Ah, yes; Armus, the Skin of Evil.
This is borderline, as he's a unique creature. I was thinking more along the lines of an entire species, but Trek certainly has plenty of higher lifeforms that could snap their fingers (figuratively speaking) and banish the entire Xenomorph species from existence. In its own way, that's even more potent than a superhero alien... |
Armus vs the xenomorphs...that would be an interesting case since Armus gets (or at least wants to get) pleasure/satisfaction from hurting others, but xenomorphs aren't sentient (at least, not like humans) and would never submit to Armus in a way that Armus would want. On the other side of the ledger, Armus is immortal and can't be harmed by any known force, especially not the claws and teeth of the xenomorphs. Whether their acid blood would affect Armus in any way is an open question, though. Even then, I can't see Armus being slowed down by xenomorph acid blood much, if at all. As far as anyone knows, Armus is both immortal and indestructible. How could the xenomorphs hurt him? _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies

I'd reckon Armus could psychologically torture a queen at least. By destroying eggs and such. The queen seemed to understand being held hostage when Ripley aimed a flamethrower at some eggs, after demonstrating what it could do to some other eggs. |

What about a Rancor? Would the acid blood be enough to deter them, or seriously injure them before the Rancor could destroy them? _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

In theory any giant such as a Rancor or Gorax could pick up an alien, and throw it several yards (ie, beyond serious blood splatter range) into a hard surface, killing it. |

It verges on the super-heroic, but since it's not the obvious one of a Kryptonian...
What about a symbiote a la Venom? _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

Well, as we saw in AVP, even being smashed through walls, doesn't really seem to do much to aliens. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Perhaps some, but far less than claws or a vibroblade. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

It's entirely possible that a lightsaber would cauterize the wound instantly just as it does to human flesh (the cantina scene in ANH notwithstanding). In that case, no acidic blood would be able escape at all as it would instantly coagulate. _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies

That assumes 'lightsabers' would cauterise acid.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

That laser scalpel that Ash was using looked a little lightsaber-ish, and when it nicked the facehugger's appendage, it popped acid blood all over like it was under pressure. Sticking a xeno with a blade could be potentially explosive depending on its physiology. _________________ Currently playing D&D 5E and painting an unholy amount of miniatures. |

Good point. When the face hugger got cut by that scalple it bled leading to the floor (several!) being burned through. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Well, if the xenomorphs' flesh isn't burned by their own blood, then cauterizing that same flesh around the acid blood should be able to hold it all in without any of the acid blood escaping, right?

True, but the corrosion also stopped after a while. Also, that facehugger must have had some enormous blood pressure for that sort of projectile bleeding. Then again, there may be something to this. Remember in Aliens when Drake mowed down that xeno with his smartgun and the thing practically exploded with its own blood that wound up drenching Drake from head to toe with acid? Maybe xenos really do have ridiculously high blood pressure. _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies
