Brought out of the thread on strange ships seen in the films...
Rebel Tanker
Built by ???
Era Republic/rebellion
Size, 86 meters
Scale; fighter
Crew 12, 4 gunners, 8 Refuelers, 6 skeleton +10.
Space speed 4
Maneuverability 2d
Nav comp; yes
Hyperdrive x2
Back up x10
Atmospheric speed 240/700kmh
Hull 3d+2
Shields 2d+2
Weapons; 2 dorsal twin light ion turret.
Crew 1 ea
Scale fighter
Fire control 3d
Damage 4d (ion)
Range 7/15/25
Atmospheric range 700m/1.5km/2.5km
2 ventral twin laser cannons
Crew 1 ea
Range same as above
Fire control 2d
Damage 5d
These tankers have large fuel cells on either side of them, capable of containing over 2 million gallons of 'fuel' for both fighters and capital star ships, each also has 8 tubes on each tank, with a switchboard and operators, who are able to lock onto a friendly ship (that's matched speed and heading", and extend the hoses to transfer fuel mid flight.
The only down side is if a fuel tanker goes up while full, it creates a large blast zone dealing 7d/5d/3d damage out to 4su/8su/12su... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk!

Here's a pic from Rebelscale.com (click the pic to enlarge).

240 meters is too much. Based on the scale observed in the SWU, this thing is tiny compared to a Nebulon B. IMO, not more than 50-60 meters, and probably Starfighter-Scale. Off-hand, I'd say it has a very high cargo capacity, but almost no cargo volume apart from the external tanks (which can probably be detached and transferred over to larger ships like the Nebulon). _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Honestly, that still feels too long. At 86 meters, it’d take up most of a football field. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Looking at the proportions and doing some quick math, I think 60 meters is about right. If the tanks are 35x15x15 meters, then you're close to that 2 million gallon figure. Using that baseline length, the ship itself is about 47m long and with tanks comes in around 60m or a bit larger. Then it's around the same size as the HT-2200 for comparison. _________________ Aha! |

I was thinking something similar for the MC19, having it be a mid-sized bulk hauler in the same size range as the HT2200. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Also, seeing as how Star Wars is a metric universe, shouldn't that be in liters or kilograms? Makes it a lot easier to calculate cargo capacity in metric tons if you aren't having to convert across from gallons to pounds to kilograms to find out exactly how much mass this thing can push.
And where is the cargo capacity listing, BTW? _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Perhaps the size should reflect the length not including the cargo pontoons and another that includes them? _________________ Don Diestler

It also bears a striking resemblance to the G9 Rigger from Clone Wars.
Seeing as how the tanks themselves have little in the way of external appliances that could be used to fuel other ships, I expect this thing is more like a generalized container hauler, with the tanks able to simply be dropped off aboard larger ships and replaced with other tanks, or with cargo containers or whatever... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. A final thought...
If it's supposed to hold close formation with other ships while refueling them, tractor beams projectors would be more useful than ion cannon.
Personally, I'm picturing this thing more as a cargo pod hauler, not a dedicated refueler, but I'll save my thoughts on that for when I do my own version... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. I was thinking ions for anti pirates.. since they are after all, carrying precious cargo. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Why not have both? A couple of ion cannons and a single tractor beam projector (ventral or dorsal). If you're concerned about power requirements you could list it as a low-power model intended for station-keeping while refueling. _________________ Aha! |
