Does anyone want to run a Play-By-Post game? We have this entire section here at the bottom of the forum devoted to PbP that is going unused.

Is PbP dead? If so, why? Did everyone finally get fed up with all the unfinished abandoned adventures and say enough is enough? Has the rise of internet video call gaming (whatever it's called) made PbP obsolete? From my experiences wth PbP at D6 Online I know why I personally don't like it, but obviously a lot of people used to like it and do it.

Every PbP that I have ever joined fizzled out within the first few weeks.

My biggest issue isn't necessarily with the medium, however the progression of the story is waaay too slow for me to really enjoy it.

I have found that most PbP games favor those who have a ton of free time, as they post more, they're able to do more in game. If I did end up playing in one or running one, I would put a limit on the number of posts that can be made, so that everyone can participate in the story, not just one person moving things along while everyone else reacts to them.

I started in a PbP (my first) over at Dragonsfoot for 1e AD&D. It fizzled when the DM and another player evaporated.

That said, I'd love to play a game here.

It's not at all complicated. Just read through the inactive PbP games here and you'll see how it works.

There's two that are interested...

Sounds great. Why don't you try to run one with those parameters and see how it goes? And even if it fizzles out, then we can say that we tried one here is recent years.

I'll consider it, but a lot would depend on what everyone wants to play and a lot would depend on how things go when my daughter goes back to school in a couple of weeks.

I would love to do a play by post game. I have participated in several over the years. The last one ended up going from PbP to the actual tabletop. We are still finishing the story arc after 8 years.

...I enjoy PBP games, but time to post has been problematic for some time (until recently I was working 71 hours a week between 2 jobs).

...Would be interested even so (time--& GM/Player patience--permitting).

My daughter is still struggling with school right now, so I'm not going to be able to commit to running a PbP game. If the situation changes, I'll post a new topic and gauge interest at that point.

PbP is about all I have time for. I do get to play a home 1E game once a month and we do Star Wars to give our DM a break.

If you're looking for players, I would check it out if there's interest and people would want me in the game.
