I find writing posts on this forum a bit annoying to format, especially if you want to include several link or do anything other than just write plain text. The BBcode format isn't as quick to write in either, whether you use the toolbar or write it yourself, so I looked online for solutions, and found:
SCEditor
A nice modern editor that simultaniously shows you a preview of your post, and the <> button show you the BBcode you can then jsut copypaste into the editor, I give it a 4 / 5. This is what I'll be using when writing anything better than a plaintext post.
Feralhosting's Markdown to BBcode converter
If you often write things in Markdown, this online text editor might be something you end up using, but it doesn't really improve the situation on too may fronts. 2 / 5, still better than our native editor
Sidenote: this post was written partially in Felralhosting's editor, and then in ECEdiotr as it was far superior |

So I went to the linked page, highlighted some text already there in the box there, pressed the <> button, copied the text and pasted it here. It just pasted plain text without the BB coding. I tried and typing original stuff in the box, bolded a word and italicized another, highlighted and pressed the <> button, then copied and pasted in here, and again, it just posted in plain text without the BB coding. Does the "Give it a try" box at the top not work to sample this? Do you have to download it? If I download it, how will that work? Does it automatically tie into the post editing window here? Or will I bring that up separately, and then copy and paste from that to here? I need to understand this better before I download anything, so thanks in advance for your help. _________________ *

Give it a try!
[color=#ff00]Red text and [/color]blue text!
[ul]
[li]A simple list[/li]
[li]With two items[/li]
[/ul]
Just type :) and it will be converted into as you type.
Interesting, only a few of the things work. (The above is a copypaste of the default text they had.) I guess this isn't that great either. |

OK, this time it changed in that window to the coding (it didn't the first 4 times I tried). And pasting it here, I got what you did. I can see the problems now.
#ff00 is not a color here.
ul doesn't work here.
li doesn't work here.
I'm guessing ul is supposed to be the indention and li is the bullet points. So basically the color #3399ff worked for blue, b worked for bold, and the smiley code worked. 3 things worked and 3 things didn't.
It may be because the forum software used here is such an old version. I'm pretty sure an upgrade will happen in the future, but I don't know when and it may not be anytime soon.
After 4000 posts I just got used to it. I'm sorry that the site isn't more user friendly for you. _________________ *
