In this episode of CRMcNeill Fixes The EU...
One of the more useless sections in Cracken's Threat Dossier, IMO, is the section on the Corellian Trilogy. I never read the novel series (just couldn't get interested in it), and there is not a single usable stat, as everything is either way outside of the time era in which I prefer to game, abjectly silly, or both. A case in point is the LAF-250 Light Attack Fighter and its strangely named derivative the HLAF-500 Heavy Light Attack Fighter. I ignored them for the longest time, until a few months back when an alternate possibility occured to me. So, here is my alternate stat for the LAF-250/HLAF-500.
LAF-250 Light Attack Fighter
The LAF-250 is the standard patrol and intercept starfighter fielded by the Corellian Defense Forces. Corellia's status as a nominally independent vassal state of the Empire has allowed them to maintain a powerful naval force, and the LAF-250 is a common sight accompanying ships of the CDF or patrolling in Corellian controlled systems and sectors. The LAF-250 is comparable to the TIE fighter, sacrificing some speed and agility in trade for survivability in the form of shields.

Variants:LAF-250R Reconnaissance
While the LAF-250 is a capable intercept and patrol vessel, it is lacking in other areas, such as sensor capacity. This isn't normally an issue, as LAF-250s rarely work outside sensor coverage of capital ships or orbital platforms. However, field operations have proven that a vessel with more capable sensors was required. The LAF-250R is the result. Using the same basic design as the standard LAF-250, the 250R is fitted with upgraded engines for slightly improved speed, and mounts smaller laser cannon, which allow it to mount a more capable sensor suite.

HLAF-500 "Heavy" Light Attack Fighter
The HLAF-500 is a good example of Corellian ingenuity in action. While Corellia is nominally independent of the Empire, any semblance of independence is completely dependent on Corellia's continued loyalty. As part of the restrictions placed on the Corellian Defense Force and its ability to police Corellian space and Corellia's various holdings along the Corellian Trade Spine, the Imperial Navy mandated that the CDF could only operate "light" starfighters in support of its fleet units. Taking advantage of the vaguely worded letter of the law, CEC's engineers took the basic "light" design of the LAF-250 and - just barely - managed to fit it out as a strike fighter, giving the CDF a limited ordnance delivery platform. To achieve this, however, the HLAF-500 sacrificed much of the LAF-250's speed and performance. While the resulting craft is capable enough for what it is, and performs a necessary role in the Corellian Defense Force, most pilots prefer the LAF-250.

These ships are intended to be used in concert with my big Corellian ships. A mixed squadron consists of 6 LAF-250s, 4 HLAF-500s and 2 LAF-250Rs. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
