Stargate had faster ships overall.
Remember that somewhere it is mentioned that there are "stargates" in Star Wars galaxy, ancient technology left over from the Celestrials.

They're not exactly star gates - but they're close. |

And they usually operate in a different manner (not using star maps as an 'address')..
