Yeah, a bit unorthodox I think but it served the intended purpose which was to give us a taste of each type of combat. After the session, I told the players what the differences other than combat would be playing 2e as opposed to 1e and that I felt it would be a better fit and they all agreed it sounded like something they'd want to do so we went with that. Despite the unsettled rule set, everyone had a great time and is looking forward to playing again in two weeks!
