The Doctor Aphra annual (and I believe the comics are considered canon) reveals a new communication method: the Undervine.

It is said to be the number one alternative to the Holonet, and the Empire (Dr. Aphra is set just after the Battle of Yavin) cannot edit the content.

It's an alternative, galaxy wide news source.

Interesting.

Yeah, it's brand new. I think it was presented for the first time in the Doctor Aphra comic. That's why I posted it--to clue everyone in.

So, how did the comics suggest it works? How does someone tap into it to use it? How far does it go etc??

You know as much as I know at this point. It may come up again in the story. If it does, I'll post here.

OK, so that only other thing to report is that Doctor Aphra uses one of her droids to slice into an Undervine transmitter in order to communicate with several Fringe groups about an auction she's having--highest bidder for the Rur Crystal!

The net says that the comics released in 2015 and beyond by Marvel are canon.

Maybe this is the starwars equivalent of the dark web? Usin selected holonet trancievers to run a parallel network sounds very "slicer" to me..

Back in the day we used to call this "the shadownet," and used it as a sort of starwars equivalent of blockchain (not that we had that word for it in the mid 90s of course).
