Sienar Fleet Systems TIE/PT
Space Patrol Fighter
Originally developed in the wake of the Clone Wars to be the Empires medium range Patrol & Escort fighter, when the Empire decided not to adopt the craft Sienar instead offered a downgraded "Budget" version to approved buyers that included a number of corporations and planetary Home Guards, the craft was relatively easy to upgrade with kits from Sienar and it's subsidiaries. Below is the "Base" model in production from 15-10 BBY

well it is a failed product, with it's hyperdtive and life support (that you have to turn off if you want to do high G maneuvers like combat the empiere didn't want them.
to make their development costs back Sienar sold them on the somewhat open market, sometimes at a loss and made their money back with the upgrade packs. "Today" (5bby to 5aby) you find them on junk heaps unused and unloved. |

Even when in production the TIE/PT in it's base format was less than capable in it's intended role, Sienar made notable profits from the sale of various upgrade packages, from Engine and Vector Control upgrades as well as weapons upgrades being the most popular, as more options where added this often lead to upgrades of the Generator, Independent Operators would often also upgrade life support and Nav Computers once the shortfalls of the standard models components was made evident, using the base generator required that the previously optional Astromech was required for power management, orginasitions that where system bound or operated Command & Control Carriers would remove the Hyperdrive and Nav Computer eliminating the need for a Astromrch Droid for Power management and even free up excess power to install more powerfully Sensors and communications all wile lowering the cost to near that of a TIE /ln

The TIE-PT uses a modified version of the "Command Pod" used by the TIE Shuttle, Landing Craft, Boarding Craft and Bomber. initially (-15BBY) vertical extended wing panels where used but they proved inefficient and prone to failure over the service life due to engaging in high G maneuvers, from -10bby when the craft was discontinued upgrade kits became available to allow the instillation of Bent Wings like those found on other extended body TIE's, a limited number of TIE -PT E variants where produced with the bent wings as standard.
A, B & C variants where standard modification, the A came fitted with more powerful weapons and a Hyper-drive Disengagement package that isolated the Nav-Computer and Hyper-drive from the power system but could be reengaged in flight if need be given enough time and expertise (Star-fighter Repair) to properly carryout the operation. The B was to have bean a Bomber variant, given lack of space for an internal Warhead Launcher they where to be externally mounted, this would prove Impractical & Dangerous instead the weapon mounts became cargo pod mounts, when fitted the cargo pods would interfere with the vector control systems robbing the craft of any maneuverability and reduced the crafts top speed. the C variant came with the Hyper-drive Disengagement package like found on the A and mounted improved Sensors & Comucations and was intended for Command & Scouting.
There was a d (Uppercase variants are production models lowercase indicates conversions) that represented a TIE-PT upgraded to a standard of the Prototypes offered to the Imperial Navy, the E and e is a modernism version of the d standard.
Large opperators would have a number of their preferred variants that did not fit standardized upgrades laid down by Sienar and independent operators where often even more customized. |

I have, Other uses... for these...
Interesting their development history aligns with my campaign, set in 15 BBY...
I am thinking the Mining Guild will have some of these, and my Inquisitor will scoop up prototypes and as many techs from the dev team as he can poach from Sienar....
for special projects...

I've since brought back the Pillion mounts on the fully upgraded TIE-PT with the designation TIE-P/T making it a Patrol/Torpedo craft, the Mounts hold a single Capital Missile and can be fired individually or in pairs, the TIE-P/T has four mounts. they don't become available until 5 B.B.Y., it was developed by a Mercenary with suggestions made by Lord Vader and Grand Admiral Thrawn. |

it's unused space not put to a purpose, on pressurized craft it can be anywhere not put to proper use, on a non pressurized craft it's those odd little cubbyholes where you can stick small packages or install mods. |
