|

I was wondering if any of you have any house rules that you use for attacking through someone else's weapon. I had this one experience where i was fighting off tusken raiders with a vibro-sword, and i went through their gaffi sticks, but i think the GM just decided to let me do it for story factor. I mean, how do you determine the soak dice for weapons, the only weapon i've seen with a body strength is the Verpine Shatter Gun.
So, what do you guys think? |

I haven't used any house rules for this, but I think I remember reading somewhere that most weapons have 2D body strength. I think it was in the section that was talking about lightsabers cutting through other weapons, maybe in the Gamemaster handbook... _________________ "Mind what you have learned. 2D? that's it? wow, all you need is a 4D strength to effectively snap a weapon in half w/ your bare hands... |

I know, I thought the same thing. And what about blocking an attack with a weapon? When you block an attack, your weapon takes the brunt of the attack... Maybe that rule was only for figuring damage when a lightsaber tries to cut through another weapon...? I'll have to look tonight and see what it says. _________________ "Mind what you have learned. So what happens when a lightsaber connects but all the damage is 'soaked' by the target.
For instance a novice jedi hacks at the leg of an ATAT with a lightsaber, roles badly and does no damage. Does the 'blade' of the lightsaber pass through the target or does it bounce off?
I kinda thought it would pass through as it's not a solid blade, leaving only minor scorch marks and a very surprised looking jedi |

I always thought the blade would stop when it hits the object if it doesn't do enough damage to go through it, kinda like when two sabers clash during a duel. _________________ "Mind what you have learned. Save you it can." --Yoda

in situations like that our MOG says something like:
you just kinda grazed the target and didn't make good contact.
this way your action was successful you just didn't do anything to the target. |

Yeah that sounds like me.
Remember when the Jedi from episode 1 used a lightsaber to penetrate the viceroy's blastdoor? He damaged it, but didn't tear it down or do anything worth while. The same could happen in any situation. Knife, blaster, lightsaber, even starship weapons. _________________ "I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings." -Max Payne

only time i ever attacked through a weapon was my vibro-sword against a gaffi stick... _________________ "For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times... before the Empire. "

I've always seen lightsabers as lasers for the most part and put their ability to hit each other as if they were solid down to the way the radiation that creates the 'blade' reacts to other radiation of the same type.
Thats why I thought that if something was heat/damage resistant the 'blade' would pass through it with little effect. It also means that if you leave the blade in the same place (like a blast door) eventually whatever it is you are trying to destroy will heat up and melt down or burn or whatever.
Is there any concrete definition of a lightsaber and what it's blade is?
(As you can tell I don't have many WEG books ) |

None of my books can tell me anything about the "blade" of a lightsaber. _________________ "I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings." -Max Payne
