I'm planning on introducing an NPC to my players, and old scout veteran, that due to injuries and old age decided to quit and start working as a freighter captain instead.
I was just wondering if anyone knew about such a character (an old looking explorer guy) in any of the books? Primarily for character art, but also inspiration.

When is your game set? If it is set during or before Episode VII, you might want to use a canon character: Lor San Tekka.
He's an explorer, and he's older (killed at the beginning of TFA).
Other ideas...

Hey, thanks for the suggestions. Lor San Tekka has the right look, but this NPC might die, so I'm a bit sceptic to use a canon character, might use the pic though. The other ones are bit young, but might be good for other npc's later!  |

Give Lor San Tekka a Force Point, which he should have anyway. That way, if he dies in your game, you can use the Force Point to somehow keep him alive. Your players can think he's dead in your game...until such time you see fit for them to realize that he's not (maybe this is years later). |

In terms of existing in-universe Scouts and their visuals, I was always particularly fond of these two guys:
