Origins
I needed another bounty hunter to chase after a character and her Master, but not be affiliated with Juul Vogon. I came up with the name, and it sounded to me like someone who would be very proficient in weaponry and in close-range combat, as well as hard-minded and analytical.

Background: Demonstrating from an early age a strong intellect and impressive combat instincts as well as a proclivity for athletics in general, Ukim Dihl was for a time on the short list to be the template for the Republic’s clone army, a contest eventually won by Jango Fett. Since that did not pan out, however, he instead worked as a law enforcement officer within the Instrop sector for some time and then as an agent of the Empire for several years. For years after that, he for Dagu’s planetary government as a trainer for their army, and finally in his thirties he became a full-time bounty hunter. After establishing himself as a reliable findsman within the Instrop and surrounding sectors, word spread of his ability to detain, incapacitate, and capture high-value and very dangerous targets. Among the captives brought in by Ukim Dihl were a rogue Imperial general, another mercenary who was terrorizing the Instrop sector, and a so-called Sith trainee. His biggest capture, however, has to be Jedi Master Zolet Garuga, who had survived Order 66 and had been on the run from the Empire for years.
Personality: Ukim Dihl prefers to think of himself as a pragmatic man, one who is all about business and neither makes nor receives jokes very well. He does enjoy drinking, and has been doing so recreationally for so long that he actually receives a -1 bonus to all skills when hungover in the morning (this effect lasts until 12 pm local time). He also likes to gamble, though he has never won enough to quit working. He tends to not fraternize with anyone (especially other bounty hunters and mercenaries), though he has been known to pick up prostitutes for a night or two after collecting on an especially valuable bounty. Ukim Dihl tends to operate much less extra-judicially than other bounty hunters of his time, and as a result, local law enforcement agencies are much more inclined to help him. Ukim Dihl does not tend to attack without provocation, but when he does his objective is generally to incapacitate his attacker rather than kill them, as they may be carrying useful information.
Objectives: To acquire enough credits to retire, but to do so without causing undue harm to innocent people or populations and without entering into any long-term partnership with any government.
A Quote: “Most people say, ‘We can do this the easy way, or the hard way.” I don’t know why they even offer that first option. In my experience, it’s always been the hard way.”
Relationships to other Characters: This character, though periodically a nuisance to local law enforcement and other Imperial agencies, is nevertheless mostly ignored by the Empire since he has contracted successfully with them in the past. Even when not dealing with the Empire, he tends to deliver his prey alive and intact, and is not known to be unreasonable or difficult to bargain with. His one point of ruthlessness, however, is his intolerance for liars. Lying to Ukim Dihl is never a good decision; at least one lie in Ukim Dihl’s past was bad enough for him to retire someone. Otherwise an amiable man who loves to smile, Ukim Dihl should still be given a wide berth, as you never know when a price on your head is big enough for him to hunt you. _________________ The only words of explanation you need for any concept in the entire Star Wars universe are the words Science Fiction and Space Opera. |
