Here are three planets I've devised. They draw a lot on the SWU and some others as well. Since I wrote them for fan fiction rather than the D6 system, they will of course eventually be converted. But most of the information is already here. Anyway:

Duesta

System: Agon
Sector: Instrop
Region: Outer Rim Territories
Star Name: Agon
Star Type: Blue-white, about 60% through its life
Orbital Bodies: 5 total:
1 – medium/large and rocky
2 – medium and rocky with three large rings (this planet)
3 – a large asteroid starting to clear its neighborhood
4 – gas giant (orange)
5 – gas giant (icy blue)

Name of Planet: Duesta
Other Names: This planet was unknown until Aulatian probes discovered it unknown years ago. They named it after one of their gods. Currently, the Instrop Development Consortium seeks to rename it as a component of a business venture.
Orbital Position: 2
Type: Terrestrial
Temperature: Artificially kept between 10˚ and 35˚ C
Atmosphere: Types I-II
Hydrosphere: Wet; seas, lakes, and large rivers
Gravity: 1.14
Terrain: Highly variable (see below)
Length of Day: 21.2 standard hours
Length of Year: 459 local days (405.5 standard days)
Sapient Species: Mostly human laborers and engineers, but there are aliens among them
Tech Level: Hyperspace
Starport: Provisional (The current starport will be demolished when construction concludes and several smaller starports will be built instead. These will be designed to blend into the landscape.)
Population: 25,000 (estimated workers) 10-12 million (when complete)
Planet Function(s): It is being terraformed into a tourist paradise
Government: Within Aulatian space, thus under the jurisdiction of Aulat
Major Exports: None
Major Imports: Building supplies, tools, droids, computers and computer parts
History and/or Further Explanations: Duesta is currently being terraformed by its lessees, the Instrop Development Consortium. Prior to this it was a lifeless rock in the middle area of Agon’s habitable zone which had been known to the Aulat for millennia yet had remained unexploited. The family who currently owns Duesta has done so for over three thousand years. After terraforming is complete, it will be a planet of unprecedented beauty. Each of its dozens upon dozens of unique ecosystems are being designed to feature flora and fauna appropriate to each of them, and all of it will be collected specifically for this purpose from other planets the galaxy over. In a sense, the planet itself is its own form of artwork. It will be a place of warm, shallow seas and very few dangers, with amiable wildlife and miles upon miles of tropical coastline. None of the planet’s land masses are more than 40 degrees from its equator.

There is a large asteroid belt between planets two and four, and many of the asteroids there can be said to have somewhat eccentric orbits, at least for asteroids. Despite constantly monitoring asteroid telemetry and vigilantly sweeping the skies, destruction via asteroid impact is less speculative on Duesta and is instead more like an eventuality. However, planets four and five play a large roll in ejecting wayward bodies (rogue asteroids, comets, etc.) completely out of the system. Before commencing with terraforming, the board of its construction consortium deployed a network of satellites around the planet which are designed to either destroy or divert incoming asteroids of nearly any size, although it has yet to be tested. The Instrop Development Consortium wishes to emphasize that the planet is just as safe or safer than any other.

The business plan is to have a large resort on the planet where people can come for temporary relaxation. A second option for comers also consists of buying residences in arcologies, or purchasing specific pieces of land of virtually any size and anywhere on the planet which they might buy or sell at their leisure. In this sense, once the planet has been opened for business, it will be first come, first serve. The luxuries offered on the planet will be the finest in the galaxy and will be available to one and all via its planned fleet of 60% droid helpers and 40% bioid staff. As Aulat has not proffered any kind of code or constitution to the inhabitants of Duesta (other than an 8% share in any capital gains), many things not otherwise available in the galaxy in abundance may be found planetside. For example, Ayorn Wine from Nethidice has been illegal in large portions of the galaxy for years. However, it will be served at certain bars or clubs on the planet, though it will be accordingly expensive. As construction progresses, huge container ships from all over the galaxy arrive almost weekly to unload their cargoes of tools and building supplies. Some of the largest container ships have arrived filled only with water from Mon Calamari, or huge loads of mixes containing bacteria or fungus and a growing medium, as required to terraform.

Duesta is also orbited by three breathtaking planetary rings several hundred kilometers wide. They are (from inner to outer) gray, teal, and green in color. They are bound to be one of the planet’s most attractive attributes, as they are visible from anywhere on the planet for several hours each day and the colors of the rings are a combination not occurring elsewhere in the known universe.

Moto Amin

System: Amin
Sector: Fellwe
Region: Expansion Region
Star Name: Amin Prime
Star Type: Orange giant 70% through its life
Orbital Bodies: 1 – small and rocky, superheated with no atmosphere
2 – gas giant
3 – medium rocky (this planet)
4 – brown dwarf

Name of Planet: Moto Amin
Other Names: The Heap, The Final Coordinates, and other slang
Orbital Position: The L5 Lagrange point behind orbital body #2
Type: Terrestrial
Temperature: -140˚C to 40˚C
Atmosphere: Type 3
Hydrosphere: The only water on-planet is contained within the charcoal-colored clouds which produce weakly-acid rain.
Gravity: 0.6
Terrain: Jungle of junk
Length of Day: 13 standard hours
Length of Year: 519 local days (281 standard days)
Sapient Species: None native, but various species have been marooned here or dropped there on purpose, and there are confirmed hermits
Tech Level: (Technically) Hyperspace
Starport: None
Population: Unknown
Planet Function(s): Junk world
Government: None except for any occurring de facto
Major Exports: Spacecraft parts
Major Imports: Derelict starships, large machinery, debris and other salvage picked up by container ships
History and/or Further Explanations: This is a planet which began 2 billion years ago as a big, atmosphere-free ball of sand that coalesced behind a gas giant. Some millions of years later, it has become a junk world the mass of which has been increased by over 40% since dumping began. A junk world is a place where civilizations in adjacent sectors may dump their refuse or leave spacecraft or other large machines which have outlived their usefulness. Like most junk worlds, Moto Amin started out lifeless, but at some juncture, it developed its own toxic atmosphere, an atmosphere which is rumored to support unknown organisms which live in the planet’s interior. This strata beneath the surface of the planet can be characterized best as a colossal and non-nnavigable circuit of warrens. It is probable that the planet contains both lifeforms which have been relocated there accidentally as well as lifeforms which only exist and have only evolved on Moto Amin.

This planet occupies the L5 Lagrange point behind a big blue gas giant.

Moto Amin also has a large ring of derelict spacecraft orbiting around it. They reside in its equatorial zone. The size of the ring is about four kilometers across and one kilometer thick, all of it composed of abandoned spacecraft of all sizes drifting along and bumping into each other. They have accumulated over many thousands of years and the majority of them have been drilled into by various parties looking for specific parts. There is now reported to be some kind of ambush predator that hides deep in the ring of derelicts that visitors should be wary of. Apparently, it can exist nearly indefinitely among the floating debris while shielding itself with its carapace. The usual description notes that this organism can go centuries without feeding. The local space station pays a thousand credits per hide, although it is said by the space station employees that the organisms (“ghouls” to the space station people) are a crafty foe, and if you don’t kill them, they are known to simply rip off your helmet and watch you die.

The small space station in orbit sells parts picked from the ring of spacecraft although it is obvious that this is not a lucrative business. A second but less obvious outpost exists in the junk layer beneath the surface of Moto Amin. This structure is the research laboratory of a xenobiologist and some of his colleagues who have been studying the planet’s lifeforms for over forty years. He, his fellow scientists, and the laboratory itself is defended by droids he has salvaged from the surface to act in this very capacity.

Thadosh

System: Osso Sarsir
Sector: Askarian
Region: Expansion Region
Star Name: Sarsiret
Star Type: White-yellow, 35% through its life
Orbital Bodies: 1 – small, rocky, and hot
2 – large, rocky, and hot
3 – small, terrestrial, and cold
4 – Thadosh
5 – gas supergiant, brown/white in color w/large blue ring

Name of Planet: Thadosh
Other Names: Eudon, Zahakiv, Ralotl, etc.
Orbital Position: 4
Type: Large terrestrial
Temperature: -25˚ C to 45˚ C
Atmosphere: Type 2
Hydrosphere: Dry
Gravity: 1.25 G’s
Terrain: Desert/dunes
Length of Day: 14 standard hours
Length of Year: 217 local days
Sapient Species: Many (see description)
Tech Level: Hyperspace
Starport: Advanced
Population: 2.2 billion
Planet Function(s): A neutral meeting ground for some 12 local systems to interact diplomatically; the planet also occupies a spot on a local hyperlane
Government: Cooperative republic (see description)
Major Exports: Diplomatic negotiations
Major Imports: Foodstuffs
History and/or Further Explanations: Thadosh as a planet is little more than a monstrous wasteland with a few salty seas and some stunted local lifeforms. There are vast deserts of different colored sands, as well as ever-shifting regions of dunes and hills. Thadosh’s real attraction lays in its habitable atmosphere and temperature, and in its proximity to some twenty local starsystems, and that it is a major station along a local hyperlane.

Thadosh has been used as a gathering place for two or more parties for purposes of bartering, trading, or negotiating for the last ten thousand years. Countless treaties, ceasefires, armistices and territory transfers have all been bargained on Thadosh’s bleak surface. Gambling has been banned by the government, as the income derived from Thadosh’s position as a spaceport is adequate and attracts less criminal behavior. This is preferable as Thadosh’s government isn’t a full-fledged government in the traditional sense, but more like a multipart provisional council which is only manifested when necessary. This is because of Thadosh’s nature as the agreed-upon neutral ground for a variable number of local starsystems. These starsystems are free to build upon Thadosh’s surface at will, as long as the building is not a residence, a production facility, or basically anything that doesn’t have at least a modicum of diplomatic function. This is to keep one or more starsystems from misusing territory on Thadosh during diplomatic relations. However, a starsystem may build jurisdictional facilities on Thadosh as long as they only pertain to and are used solely by that system.

Tourists would undoubtedly find Thadosh to be dull, though the spaceport economy and the entrepreneur settlements may offer some relief from this. There is a large concourse where goods produced in adjacent systems and sectors are sold, and the spaceport itself handles hundreds of landings and departures every day. This means that there is a whole population that exists on Thadosh which is only interested in diplomacy by way of making money from it. It is estimated that over half the planet’s inhabitants are permanent residents, so there is certainly a society which has developed, one which is currently in the throes of finding its identity while treading water in a pool of interplanetary and internal turmoils.

Let me know what you guys think!

Addendum to Thadosh:

A recent trend has been moisture farmers moving to Thadosh to take advantage of the nearly unknown regions far from the diplomatic centers, as well as the fact that Thadosh is a relatively dry world, and water can get somewhat expensive (and therefore profitable). However, most of the planetary governments who have diplomatic posts on the surface tend to bring at least some water with them.

Addendum to DUESTA. I thought maybe a world currently being terraformed is far less interesting than a world which has been terraformed, and WENT AWRY.

I am maybe going to add more to its history based on this:

Duesta, due to the intentional introduction of organisms from all over the galaxy in an attempt to build a paradise, actually ends up being abandoned as unlivable. As it turns out, the bioengineers employed by the construction consortium lose control of their delicate artificial ecosystem, and it turns on them and the other workers, leading to many deaths. This loss of control was due in part to the high radioactivity of Duesta’s star, something which induced unwanted mutations in some of the introduced creatures, thereby causing them to become unintentionally dangerous and uncontrollable. Duesta is eventually abandoned and quarantined, and the satellites left in orbit are reprogrammed to warn all approaching ships that the planet below is now a wild place which should be given full consideration by anyone thinking of landing on it.

Is there a similar world in another universe?

I got Death World from TV Tropes, http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DeathWorld , but there's also a series of novels called Deathworld. The concept is basically the same as, say, Kashyyyk (which is likely an example of a Death World in Star Wars EU).

I misspelled Chtorr, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_War_Against_the_Chtorr , which is basically a hostile takeover, terraforming style. (Though in this case, it's more chtorrforming than terraforming. Similar to how vongforming works.)

Right on. Thanks for the links, the TV Tropes one seems particularly useful to a storyteller (ahem, GM).

Not quite sure if I'm going to go with "simply setting foot" on Duesta would be death, but it certainly became dangerous enough for the construction folks to simply abandon it and write it off as a colossal failure.

Perhaps that could inform a part of the story? As in, the planet doesn't become unlivable because of mutations in the fauna, but becomes unlivable because the construction consortium folded right in the middle of the terraforming process, leaving behind a half-finished colony and all the terraforming equipment. I see it as somewhat of a "ghost town" in some areas, and in others, evidence of its artificial nature peers back at the PC's through an ostensibly gorgeous paradise. And of course, there will be predators.

EDIT: What a perfect place to deposit a population of Acklays! Ahahaha.
