Not a new guy, but I have been away from this forum for about five years while a lot of life happened. I originally got on here as something to keep my mind busy after my wife died in 2009. I got really busy with being instant single parent, Army retirement, moving across the country, getting married again, and more raising kids. My youngest daughter had been eyeballing my star wars books since she was about 5 years old, and occasionally asked me when she would be old enough to play " the Star Wars game". Fast forward to 2015 and the kids got some 5th edition D&D books at ages 10 and 11. I had been their DM for about a year when they saw Episode VII and wanted to play Star Wars. So now at the ripe old ages of 11 and 12, they and my wife (new wife, to avoid confusion) were introduced to West End Star Wars. I guess I need to dig out the photo album and post some equipment cards.

Is it okay to resurrect a thread that has been idle for five years? I would like to pick up on some stuff where I left off.

I played SWD6 a lot in high school, but I haven't had much of a chance in the last 10 years or so - my friends would rather play Pathfinder or D&D. I used to post here years ago, I have no idea what my username was though.

The REUP edition has really gotten me excited, it's amazingly done. Bravo to those involved.

I think you skipped several pages of this thread. The last post before yours was only 8 days prior.

I was talking about a different thread. I had a bunch of equipment on index cards that were in a photo album. They were my extra equipment catalog from the late 90s game era. The thread in which I posted some of them is titled "I found it!" or something like that.

5e uses roughly the same difficulty scale for common tasks as d6 Star Wars! It has helped with me getting back into D&D. I never played 4e, but I heard about it. 5e is way more compatible with the d6 star wars mentality.

Thanks. I bought the 4e Players Handbook but I haven't played D&D since 3.5. Since I've never played 4e and 5e seems better, I think I'll trade in my 4e book for a 5e PH. (I love the Dragonborn race and there is probably new artwork for them.) Not that I'll ever play it, but D&D is so inherently flawed I am optimistic it will improve. The only way is up. Plus after playing WotC Saga and FFG Star Wars, the d20-ish version is clearly the superior game system.

I’m of the mindset that if I want a really D&Dish D&D experience, I play AD&D 1e, full metal.

For everything else, there’s the Chaosium family of RPGs (Runequest, Call of Cthulhu, Stormbringer, and yes, I include Star Wars).

I'm pretty sure I haven't ran D&D since AD&D (1e). I liked the addition of nonweapon proficiencies in 2e, but I only played in a few 2e campaigns. D&D 3e/3.5 was just horribly crunchy.

It's not completely beyond reason to include Star Wars in the Chaosium family of RPGs, seeing as Ghostbusters, the proto-D6 RPG, was designed by Sandy Petersen, Lynn Willis and Greg Stafford for WEG.

Hi, i'm new to SWD6 but i've decided that i like the system just on a read much more then D20. the issue i had with converting to an older system was initially 'i'll lose all of the cool toys from the more modern EU' and then i found the Pit here which blew up that Roadblock.


So...uhh....thanks for the demolitions work preventing me from trying what on the outside looks so much easier to run and play then D20 and i guess wish me luck since i think my first D6 playtest will be some time this week.

is there any one i can ask to try and help me figure out ship building rules ? or tell me where they are if i missed them in one of the books ? i need to get the parties ship done by Friday.

As far as I know, there's no official, complete ship-building system in Star Wars d6. Open d6 Space, http://opend6.wikidot.com/ and is somewhat compatible out of the box with Star Wars. I haven't tried that system, though.

Most parties tend to at least start out with something like a Stock Light Freighter - of which the YT-1300 (MFalcon) and the Ghtroc 720 freighter are examples.

Generally, you tend to end up with a space transport that has 1 or 2 crew, somewhere between 5 and 10 passengers, about 100 MT (ranging from about 75 to about 200) of cargo, a hyperdrive multiplier of x2 or thereabouts, a backup, a nav computer, Maneuverability of about 1D, a Space rating of about 3 - 5, Hull code of 3D-4D, and perhaps 1D of Shields, and a weapon or two (laser cannon, 4D damage, 1D - 2D Fire Control. Roughly, this seems to be a 'stock light freighter'.

On the d6 Holocron, you can occasionally find floor plans for ships, but you can find floor plans for many ships by som judicious googling.

One of my personal favourites is the Kazellis light freighter. I like how it spreads its wings, so to speak. Another is the DeepWater light freighter - it just looks like a little frog, and I find that adorable. I've also loved Dash Rendar's YT-2400 for a long, long time - mostly because it isn't the MFalcon, but still looks vaguely like it.
