I'm looking at starting my D&D group on SW and there's been good interest. I've waffled between the FFG EotE version and D6, and particularly I've been interested in using Mini Six.
I just thought I would jump onboard and get some pro advice. |
That is exactly how I ended up here. Now a buddy and I switch of running every month. He runs D&D, I run SW D6. Currently I am running 2nd ed R & E, but I am slowly getting the rest of the group reading REUP.
Welcome to the Pit, Kas!
The absolute wealth of fan created material put me over the top. Plus D6 is made to house-rule, so it fits my GM style. _________________ "Yes because killing the guy you always planned on usurping and killing anyways in order to save your own kid, totally atones for murdering a roomful of innocent trusting children." Thanks.
I was pretty blown away by the Galaxy Guide 16 - The Old Republic that I saw. The quality was just fantastic for fan-made. Very impressed!!!
I am currently running a 5E D&D game, but when that ends I'll want to transition to SW. |

Well, I guess this is a re-introduction. Its been what almost 2 years since I've dropped off the face of the earth around here so to speak.
I can use the excuse that work went sideways ... The job teaching at the academy went from bad to worse to unbelievable to unfathomable. ... Eventually a friend of mine quit and got a job in another state agency. He quickly convinced me to follow him .
Luckily I did, over the last 2 months (after I switched jobs) the agency I taught at has gone beyond what I could have handled. Plus the new job is a good fit for me. I'm paid to help vets fight the va, research case law as needed and dig through vets med and personal records.
The one bad thing is it takes up even more time than my last job, so I have a little less free time now than I did before. But, I am happier and in a better mood, which helps out here at home.
All that said, I have over the last 2 years seen the invites to SWR's and others' games and wish I could join.
However, a friend of mine offered me a seat a while back in his C&C game to play an extra NPC when I could play. That grew into me playing for real in their game. As such I'm taped for the one night a week I can game (remember the less free time with the new job) and even then I can't make some of the games.
On one of those games, they started talking about SW and I mentioned the game groups here and all the great work you all have done. So, that reminded me to come back here and dig around. Wow some good stuff here in my absence ...
Though I can't jump in a game with you all I do hope to be around a bit more _________________ "And so I am become a knight of the Kingdom of Dreams and Shadows!" - Mark Twain

hardly feels it has been that long, but hey maybe it has. I wondered several times what had happened to by buddy. Glad to hear things are better for you, though the lack of time is still problematic. I do run a game on Thursdays currently =) _________________ Don Diestler

Hello
We used to play SW in the end of the 80's/beginning of the 90's.
However, too afraid to be labelled as nerdy, we abandoned them.
I just turned 40, and a few months ago I just happened to pick the SW core book and a few source books from the shelf. I flipped through them and got inspired. I tried it out with my oldest son, who is now old enought to "get" the point of rpg:s, and we had a blast. Tried it out with some of his friends, and they enjoyed themselves immensely!
Currently I am trying to put together a group of middle-aged nerds like myself |

Very cool. If I may ask, how old is your son? I've gotten my two little ones involved with a very much simplified version of the rules. They've been playing for a few years, but they're 9 and 10 now. _________________ __________________________________

My son turns 10 in April, his friends are a few years older. (I live in a small village, so the kids all hang out together, even if there are age differences)
It does help that he has a wild imagination, like his father... |

Hello fellow SW RPG gamers.
I'm almost embarrassed to say that I only just discovered this site and forum...and boy do I love what I've seen so far.
I'm 42, I've been gaming since I was 11...classic D&D.
I eventually got into WEG D6 Star Wars after RIFTS was driving me crazy in the early 90s.
I learned to write my own house rules very early, after reading a quote (i think it was Gygax) who said along the lines of "the secret to the rpg industry...is that we can't let them realize that they don't need us to write the rules."
I think I never found this place because I have been so self sufficient; I never needed t seek house rules because if i needed it...i made it, and most of what I came across was...limp.
But looking around here...I see so many of you are like me.
I'm SWAG guild member artist. I have a deviant art page under Dredwuf60.
I was a mod over at Brothers All a clone commandos fan forum. www.clonecommandos.net (am...i say 'was' because there has been no real activity there for a long while).
I served in the Canadian army, light infantry and retired as a sergeant.
I'm now employed in law enforcement. (we're directed not to talk about the organization by name online if you aren't a media officer in official capacity...CYA stuff...but if it was Star Wars, and my province was a Sector...i guess I'd be a sector ranger)
I'm looking forward to contributing here. |

Welcome to the Pit! You'll fit in well here.
I'm slightly older. After only playing D&D and AD&D in elementary school, my junior high group created our our own house version of D&D, and we also used that as a basis for our own homebrew Star Wars RPG. _________________ *
