So is anyone working on this?
I can't wait to see the hyperspace time charts then.... jumps take about 10 seconds between any systems now.

In the Ships section, there are a bunch of stats for some of the ships that appeared in the movie. |

There has been a lot of talk about this and from a content creator I can tell you its very hard because there is NO information for a lot of it at this time. What information that is available is currently in two books (Cross-Sections and Visual Dictionary) that cost $20 each.
So yeah I could create all sorts of content and whatnot, you know make it all up, but it will not be the same. The information will come out slowly over time. That is unfortunate as some of us would like to see this thing done now.
Logistics and lack of information is the issue here. Think of is this way, you want more water pressure in your sink, but you have 1/2". The issue is not the water (information), it is the pipe (release of information) that constricts your pressure. _________________ Don Diestler

I was thinking of something very similar to this. I mean, I watched the movie again today, and I couldn't help but think, "Man, it would be fun to stat some of this out, but WHERE is the info?" And yeah, I could plop down $40 for some pictures and visual guides, but that only gets you part way there.
Of course, WEG had license to just make things up as they went along so long as they had some LFL oversight. But they were pretty solid content creators for a while.
I'm wondering if we're going to get some splatbook from FFG that will at least give us an LFL-approved basis on which to work. Granted, most of the stats will not be subject to a consistent conversion rubric, but at least it will have some info on which we could work. But they have a policy about not talking about ideas in the pipeline before they're officially announced. So, we don't even know if we'll get something like that. It certainly doesn't fit within their current product line. And heaven knows I'm not going to shell out $60 for a TFA Core Rulebook. _________________ __________________________________
Before we take any of this too seriously, just remember that in the middle episode a little rubber puppet moves a spaceship with his mind. |

Didn't you shell out for the EotE and AoR core books? If so, you're ahead of me - I still haven't the gotten the core book for AoR (or FaD).
Yes, WEG had a license to make stuff up as they went along, but WEG was eventually designated EU, so the films still had the freedom to contradict and therefore retcon the EU. Now non-Legends publications are canon the same as the films. Officially, the Lucasfilm Canon Story Group has designated the FFG RPG as Legends.
I've poked around in Google and the FFG forums, and there seems to be no plans for them to release any RPG material based on TFA. There probably will be a canon version of the game someday, when post-RotJ canon is much more established. For now, it seems the Canon Story Group feels RPG continuity would be more constricting on canon works and more difficult to navigate, so they make it Legends and not worry about it. Yes, FFG does have a TFA expansion for their starship combat game, but I wouldn't worry about an RPG TFA core or sourcebook anytime soon.
I concur that it is too soon for us to start work on a GG for TFA. Besides, we still have the GGs for TPM and RotS, so let's not get ahead of ourselves. _________________ *
