I edited a bit to bring it a little closer in line to the stats of the Combat Paraglider.
I still see them as different enough to warrant separate enough to warrant different stats. The Combat Paraglider is a more long term vehicle that is bigger, bulkier and can accept wear and tear.
The Paraglider presented above is smaller, more short term and concealable. _________________ His eyes are shifty. That's how you know the nerf did it. |

Accuracy would be nice, but I'm not interested in calculating average weights for alien species just to fit accurate house rules for one exotic vehicle. If necessary, I'd just rule that a larger-than-human character suffers a +5 increase in Piloting difficulties, but still allow him to carry his gear. Either that or allow his team mates to carry his gear. |
True, most sources just list size, but imo it should be easy to look at a races pic and guestimate a good weight averages.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Not necessarily. Body density compared to body mass isn't a fixed ratio even among humans. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

But why bother, unless there is a specific, story-driven reason for knowing why Character X has 50 kilos of weight to spare while Character Y only has 20. I mean, if these are anything like parachutes, they come in different sizes based on the weight to be carried, which is determined by stepping on a scale as you're being issued your unit. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Especially when you consider you could have a group with a squib (around 70lb soaking wet) a Houk (300 or so lb min), a pair of human females (anywhere from 90 to 190lb unless they are obese), and so on. That's why i prefer a flat weight limit. |
I tend to agree with this. Especially since the "high capacity" option has a specific weight limit. |

Speaking to several of my Mil friends, they have not said anything about 'different weight limits' for different parachutes. Just max limits. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Hmm. I'll have to check my sources. But considering how rarely weight is addressed in the RAW, calculating exact weight seems like an awful lot of work for a piece of equipment that gets used rarely at best. I'd prefer to go with difficulty modifiers based on general situations, not number crunching to find out exactly how much a PC weighs with his equipment. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
