So, one of my players decided they needed an astromech droid. He walked the streets of Anchorhead for a few days, making streetwise rolls and bargaining to buy parts to repair a classic repulsorlift truck they had found in a scrap yard during a prior adventure. While doing this, he was also looking for a cool used astromech that had spunk and character and would make a good fit for the group.
So, I created R2-D0 on the fly. They met a droid dealer who repairs scrapped, salvaged or other "unwanted" droids and finds them new homes. "Deeoh" is excited to be part of an adventure again, to get a chance to return to space and do all the things and is like an excitable and overenthusiastic little ball of energy.
The characters fell in love with him, and bought him, for the measly sum of just over 3,000 credits.
I was about to sit down and build the droid, but I thought - "Hey, I bet the guys on the Rancor Pit have some really great ideas for this guy!"
So, anyone who might like to give this droid build a shot? I'd appreciate a fresh take on a heroic astromech! _________________ Star Wars D6 Creations - https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B2eHApljB2fKfmNxZVNsNnU0UzJ2bEVDbHZDZWNFdnB0SEwzYzlYTm9LdGs2dk5RSG95LWM&usp=sharing |

Question: Is this supposed to be the WEG droid of the same name (from the 1e rulebook's adventure +), which had been junked at some point to later be recovered by your players?
Either way, one easy plot point with salvaged astromechs is that the droid holds some important data a crime lord (or someone else) believed had been destroyed but doesn't want uncovered. _________________ *

Tootle is a strange robot. Due to the 5 kids of his only owner, given permission to tinker with him over the almost decade of his operational life, he has picked up several quirks.
First is he is now a klepto. Anything shiny or droid part, he will try to pick, even from someone's pocket.
Second is while his stats are higher than norm for Starship or fighter piloting, any time he is allowed to pilot, he will RUN from combat post haste.
Also, when repairing, he always tootles out several tunes (mostly kids stuff) and THIS will always come back in even if he gets memory wiped. Its so ingrained into him, mind wiping will not erase it. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Hardwired kids' tunes...A truly insidious GM will of course play the Barney theme and the Oompa Loompa song at random intervals. Just to lodge them firmly in the players' minds, of course. 8) _________________ Aha! |

That is sadistic brilliance!
One of my players had an astromech built in to his Z95. It was pure salvage and rebuild. I think it is just about time for his R2-Muzak programming to reassert itself. _________________ "Yes because killing the guy you always planned on usurping and killing anyways in order to save your own kid, totally atones for murdering a roomful of innocent trusting children." Heck. Imagine if songs like I'm a barbie girl were put on repeat!

Oh, man, I completely missed the Pickpocket skill! Genius! No telling what you mind find in that cargo compartment: bits of foil, negative power coupling, thermal detonator, etc.
Now all we need is a brain liquifying mashup of Barney and the Oompa Loompas. "I love you. You love me. If you are wise, you'll listen to me." Might as well toss in some Ludwig Van and complete the Clockwork Orange portion of our program. 8) _________________ Aha! |
