Does anybody know of an index of starship systems & equipment? I'm working on price breakdowns for variously powered onboard systems. The price generator on D6 Holocron is helpful but not as comprehensive as I'd like for individual pieces of ship gear. Also open to suggestions regarding existing/house game mechanics for refitting vessels with new equipment. |

For my fringe/privateer campaign, the list you're talking about is the holy grail. I'm also working on one sporadically.
What types of equipment would one expect to be listed? What are you looking for? |

The ship gear listed in pirates & privs and GG6 are great but I'd like a broader spectrum of items. Targeting computers, quad laser cannons, turrets in general, subspace and hyperspace radios with options for special equipment like encryption devices and signal boosters. I've started using the existing lists as a basis for a more comprehensive index. Just fishing for suggestions. |

I don't have a comprehensive list, though I did have a small listing of more mundane ship parts in my D6 Magazine article "Handle with Care - Part 1." I'm pretty sure that it's in Issue #5. It's a free download, though you do have to have a Drive Thru RPG account to download. Are you interested? _________________ __________________________________

Certainly. I've got a drivethru account already. Looking forward to checking out your work. |

Thanks Cheshire!
Also, I'd like to work up some armor types for replacing existing plating on starship hulls, but I can't decide if that's too much stat boosting as it would be free of modification mishap penalties. Though it could incur maneuverability and speed penalties. Thoughts? |

I wonder what the process was like for taking a wooden ship and turning it into an ironclad. Heh... you're making a Mandalorian Ironclad!
j/k
I think that some people have tweaked with ideas of fiddling with a ship's hull. My thoughts are that cost would not only be affected by the current hull rating of the ship but also the dimensions of the ship. Accounting for both would be difficult to calculate into a reasonable price range.
I don't think it would necessarily mess with the mishaps. Though I think it may have a potential impact on either maneuverability or speed, depending on how much extra mass you're packing onto the ship.. _________________ __________________________________

Mandalorian ironclad indeed. The old Mando's supposedly did use beskar to plate the hulls of some warships, but not sure I'd want to unleash something that unbalancing into the game, tempted as I am.
New armor hulls would by nature be very expensive as you point out. Using the length and width to figure the surface area of the ship, plus the fact that each plate would have to be custom form fitted and assuming the metal is of higher quality than standard durasteel and the credits start mounting pretty fast. |

The Pit's Conversion for Saga Edition's Starships of the Galaxy included different types of hull armor. IIRC, it also included reinforced framework for the interior. I know the D20 Future book included even more detail if you are looking for ideas to convert over. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Yeah I'm looking at the Pit's Starships Guide a lot lately. It's very handy. Unfortunately every time I pick up a D20 book I break out in hives so I'll have to leave the ever so appreciated conversions to a more resilient gamer. |

I had one player who said exactly that when I told him I wanted to run a d6 game. Now the rest of us are playing a perfectly enjoyable game without him. _________________ His eyes are shifty. That's how you know the nerf did it. |

Just make sure it has a self destruct, and now you have 5 SU shrapnel grenade... with shrapnel that will cut trough the hulls of nearby ships like they were made of tinfoil.
