I have the First Edition. Honestly, I was originally going to homebrew up some really lite rules and wing it, so deciding to go with a published RPG at all was basically a concession to not reinventing the wheel. In other words, was I really going to write up my own equipment list, force powers, ship specs, etc.? Naw!
I’d always heard Star Wars (WEG) was a great RPG, but I was still very pleasantly surprised at how well the original core rulebook reads. It really seems to nail it. There is some stuff I don’t like, but it is mainly just advice, that is easily ignored (start in medias res, hand out scripts for the players to read, give them immunity to death). |

Cool. You may find that 1e is good enough for what you want to do with it. Please keep in mind that not that many of us play 1e, and some here have never played it or may not even have it. I played it a lot 1988-90 and still have it, so if you have any questions just post them to the board and I'll try to give it a shot when I see it, if someone else hasn't already helped. As a friendly reminder, I do suggest specifying your question is regarding 1e in the thread subject, because R&E tends to be the assumed version of the game here when not specified. _________________ *

Excited to finally get beyond lurker status (thanks to the Arrow and Loc) after an extended "application and verification" period. You are a picky bunch of nerfherders (curse yahoo email accounts). One would think I was a suspected smuggler/blockade runner/salvager or other unsavory denizen of the stars.
Played D6 star wars back in the early through late 90's (2E along with Masterbook, Earthdawn, Mechwarriors, WFRP, and the Hero System). Seem to be the GM far more often than the player. Our last gaming group in a bit of a rework after some graduted, got married, moved, all that jazz. Currently GM'ing D6 Star Wars (along with GM'ing Heroes, and playing some WoD) with a small group and (separately) with the three oldest of my yahoos (riding the Star Wars Lego resurgence for all its worth).
Excited to be a part of the community and offer my two credits worth. _________________ "She's tore up plenty, but she'll fly true." |

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you had registering. We're not sure why that happens to some and not others (and some vile spammers make it through).
But scruffy nerfherders and scoundrels are welcome! Trust me.

It might be nice if there were an area where posting as Guest were enabled, so one could say, “Hey! I’m a person! Please activate my account!” |

Seconded. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

That is a good idea; I know I had trouble joining until my son (who'd made an account years before me) emailed somebody to ask.
And welcome, Falconer and Venerath! Glad to have both of you here!
Falconer, you don't happen to play The One Ring, do you? (I ask because IIRC there's somebody with that username on Cubicle 7's forum) _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

Yeah, we're working on figuring out why it activates some accounts and not others. There are these guys in Pakistan that had been getting through and making posts, but good and honest users seem to get hung up somehow. _________________ __________________________________

I am on those forums and I love Middle-earth, but I don’t (yet?) grasp The One Ring. It seems gamey in odd ways, kind of similar to the FFG SW RPG.
I do love War of the Ring, the board game by the same guys. |

Cool! I will admit it was tough for me (and my group) to get TOR as well, but now that I have it's a wonderful system.
Probably easier for people new to RPGs, but one of those situations where us old-school gamers have to "unlearn what we have learned". _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

I used to own SW R&E, but it's been years since I last saw my copy.
I'm looking at starting my D&D group on SW and there's been good interest. I've waffled between the FFG EotE version and D6, and particularly I've been interested in using Mini Six.
I just thought I would jump onboard and get some pro advice. |
