|
|
I have searched the net and all Vanion's books but I just can't seem to come up with too much info on Barabels. Im playing a barabel shockboxer at the moment and I have been trying to get some info on Barab 1 and the surrounding planets, culture, and personalities. I have found little tidbits here and there but not enough to really sink my teeth into.
Vanion told me I oughta take a gander on here and poke around. So might anyone have a nice stash of hidden info, or even know of a good place to look for some.
Thanks a bunch _________________ So uh...I rolled a 1 on the wild die...is that good? |

Visit the PDF sharing thread in the Tools Forum and download Gry's excellent Alien Stats PDF as it will give you tons of offical WEG alien stats and D6 conversions of WotC alien stats. Barabels are on page 15 and here is what it says.
Quote: | Home Planet: Barab I
Attribute Dice: 12D
DEXTERITY 2D/4D
KNOWLEDGE 1D/2D+1
MECHANCIAL 1D/3D
PERCEPTION 1D+1/4D+2
STRENGTH 3D/5D
TECHNICAL 1D/2D+1
Special Abilities:
Natural Body Armor: The black scales of the Barabel act as
armor, providing a +2D bonus against physical attacks, and
a +1D bonus against energy attacks.
Radiation Resistance: Because of the proximity of their
homeworld to its sun, the Barabel have evolved a natural
resistance to most forms of radiation. They receive a +2D
bonus when defending against the effects of radiation.
Vision: Barabels can see infrared radiation, giving them the
ability to see in compete darkness, provided there are heat
differentials in the environment.
Story Factors:
Jedi Respect: Barabels have a deep respect for Jedi Knights,
even though they have little aptitude for sensing the Force.
They will almost always yield to the commands of a Jedi
Knight (or a being that represents itself believably as a Jedi).
Naturally, they are enemies of the enemies of Jedi (or those
who impersonate Jedi).
Reputation: Barabels are reputed to be fierce warriors and
great hunters, and they are often feared. Those who know of
them almost always steer clear of them.
Move: 11/14
Size: 1.9-2.2 meters tall

Here is some information I pulled off some sights. I'm not siteing them as each page offered little blurbs, but know that they are not mine. (Ok, I did link one, but it's really good - I believe strait out of the race right-up.)
Final note, I didn't actually read through it, so it may not be perfect. I skimmed the info to check over the basics.
Quote: | The Barabel evolved from a vicious reptilian species and maintain their hunting culture. On average, they stand 2 meters tall and weigh around 130 kilograms. Jagged, overlapping, black keratin scales cover their bodies protecting them from bites, blaster bolts, and radiation, and the Barabel are said to be able to shed their tails when necessary. Due to the planetary harsh radiation, they are forced to hunt at night and their eyesight has adapted, allowing them to see perfectly in utter darkness. They also have a layer of fat that retains heat, so they fight well in both sun-baked heat and freezing cold temperatures .Barabel are famously mean-spirited. This normally manifests itself in direct physical confrontation, but Barabel have no qualms with property destruction, traps, indirect fire, or even crueler tactics. Outsiders often confuse Barabel viciousness with stupidity, though that is a foolish mistake, and often their last. |
About Barab 1 wrote: | A dark, damp, and strange world, Barab 1 has a sixty hour rotation, leaving very little water or other necessary substances on the surface during the daytime. At night, the water which evaporates during the day condenses, and falls to the ground as rain. The Jedi were deeply respected by the Barabel after they solved a dispute long ago. |
Ok, here's a site with much more info - and a link (I know......but they have too much info to just C&P w/o giving them link credit)

That's impossible!
And Leia is your sister!
That's improbable?
And the Empire will be destroyed by..EWOKS!
That's...highly unlikely.
The Force? Bacteria called midichlorians.
If you don’t take this seriously I'm out. |

Thanks a bunch!
Yea when I googled "Barabel" I got a few pages with tidbits of info, then a few ok pages.
What would you guys think about creating my own information about barabels. Like culture stuff that I haven't been able to find in books or on the net. Is that ok or is that kind taboo? _________________ So uh...I rolled a 1 on the wild die...is that good? |

You might try checking Galaxy Guide 4 if you haven't already. There's info in there on their history and culture that could be helpful in your development. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

Ahh alright Ill go cheak it right now. Im sure Vanion has that one...
Ok yea, just checked GG4. I hadn't thought to look there previously. Im kinda information hungry. Everything is very generalized. I mean heck it would take them a while to get really detailed about every since race.
The main part of the reason for my information quest is someone in game a few sessions ago asked me How to tell the difference between male and female barabels and I was a tad embarassed that I couldnt tell them. So I just pretended to be offended then came to look for an answer.
Orgaloth thanks for the offer I just might do that. You guys are the pro's after all _________________ So uh...I rolled a 1 on the wild die...is that good? |

But what's there is a good starting point for developing the whole of the culture and that's what that's what I was getting at in my last post. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!
