Hello long time fan of the D6 system and I thought I should join the community. I thought my first post should be on something my players have been complaining about for a while. So in the rules it says that all ships have four areas in which they can deploy shields, the front, back right and left arcs. I was wondering if for ships of starfighter scale, should they only have the front and back arcs since my players keep saying they are spending more time switching the shields from the front, then to the left or right, then actually attacking the enemy. The other reason I feel this is fine is that the size makes adding more shield projectors very impractical since starfighters are sort of made to be disposable, the adding of two extra shield projectors should up the cost to build a fighter. Also since the size is less of a target profile, the left and right arcs are really unneeded unlike a larger ship. I look forward to hearing what everyone has to say. |

I think it's a fine idea. WEG did just that for their Star Warriors space combat game. Star Fighters only had two arcs, while transports had four (but transports also could soak a lot more damage in Star Warriors). |

Technically ships should have 6 arcs for shields. Top, left, right, front, rear and bottom. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Well, technically, it's all arbitrary. There could be more than six. A shot could come in from the upper forward port side. It all depends on how large an area a shield covers. |

I actually used the Star Warriors 2-arc shield rules as a house rule for starfighters for a while. Movie dialogue has things like "Put your deflectors on double front" and "Stabilize your rear defectors". _________________ *
