Game Notes:
1. Side compartments can be converted for additional cargo storage. The top, which is flat can also be used. This allows for up to 1,500 kgs
of additional cargo to be carried, but depending on how this cargo is stored will take up passenger space (up to 6 spots).
2. Prisoner Immobilization Unit towards the rear, had room for one to four prisoners (if packed in tightly).
Capsule: Imperial transport vehicles, which primarily carried stormtroopers for the Galactic Empire. They could also be used as a prisoner transport, or even a cargo transport. They were manufactured by Ubrikkian Industries, and were armed with two forward laser guns, and a dorsal twin laser turret.
Characteristics
Stormtroopers loading cargo on an Imperial Troop Transport The ITT was a long, box-shaped repulsorcraft with a plating of grey metal. Because of its repulsorlift engine, a hovering ITT emitted a distinct noise that made it recognizable from a distance. Two pilots and a commanding officer rode in the vehicle's cab, the bow of which was equipped with a transparisteel viewport, while up to six individuals rode on the sides of the vehicle in exposed racks, the doors of which were auto-locking. It measured 8.7 meters long by 3.5 high by 4.5 wide, and weighed 20,600 kilograms Its maximum speed was 150 kilometer per hour.
Although not designed as an infantry fighting vehicle, the ITT was still armed with two forward laser guns, and a single dorsal laser turret. Thanks to its ample firepower, the transport could deter most attackers. However, insertion of a foreign body in the barrel of an ITT's laser gun would cause it to explode upon firing.
Role
The primary function of the Imperial Troop Transport was to move stormtroopers between important locations in times of conflict. A single transport could carry at least one squad of such troops. Likewise, ITTs were also used to forcibly relocate prisoners, including farmers whose land had been seized by the government. On at least one occasion, an ITT's side racks were used to transport food supplies.
History
The Imperial Troop Transport was designed for the Galactic Empire by Ubrikkian Industries. Eight years after the end of the Clone Wars, the Empire deployed several ITTs on Gorse to track a transporter crewed by Hera Syndulla, Kanan Jarrus and Skelly, three individuals who had attempted to kill the Imperial Count Denetrius Vidian. Although the Troop Transports successfully located and attacked their target, the rebels still managed to escape thanks to the use of explosives and some risky maneuvers performed by Syndulla.
In 3272 LY, an Imperial unit stationed on Lothal used an ITT to transport a supply of meilooruns bought in the city of Kothal. The young Ezra Bridger, a street urchin affiliated with a group of rebellious individuals, attempted to steal meilooruns from the transport, but was spotted by stormtroopers while inspecting the fruit. Shortly thereafter, Supply Officer Yogar Lyste used three ITTs to attack the farm of Morad Sumar. The farmer, his wife and an Aqualish employee were subsequently captured and put in one of the ITTs' compartments, but were rescued by Bridger and his partner Garazeb Orrelios.

There are seats for 3: pilot, co-pilot, captain. It is listed under Crew. If there was additional "meaningful" space inside, other than the prisoner compartment, there would be no need for the six external berths. _________________ Don Diestler

But in the episode where this vehicle was featured, weren't there a few stormtroopers riding inside? IIRC, they came up through a roof hatch... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Just double checked. I was wrong about the roof hatch, but at least 3 stormtroopers climbed up on the roof of one of these while it was under way... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. When the ITTs arrive at Moad Sumar's farm there are three ITTs. Outside the vehicles are 9 Stormtroopers and 1 officer. The officer orders one of the LTTs to blow up a building. This suggests there are personnel inside we cannot account for. Later we see the driving compartment with 2 Imperial Combat Drivers and 1 officer. We can now deduce that it was one of the Imperial Combat Drivers who fired the weapon destroying the building.
When Ezra frees the Sumar's and aqualish farmhand he is attacked by 3 Stormtroopers. After they are defeated he is attacked by 3 more Stormtroopers. This takes place while he is on top of the ITTs not externally carrying cargo.
No troopers exit the ITT with external cargo.
An officer peaks out the side door of one of the ITTs not externally carrying cargo.
This is what we can prove and this is what can be deduced:
ITT 1: (2) Imperial Combat Drivers, (1), Imperial officer, (3) Stormtroopers.
ITT 2: (2) Imperial Combat Drivers, (3) Stormtroopers.
ITT 3 (externally carrying cargo): (2) Imperial Combat Drivers, (3) Stormtroopers
So what can I deduce from this? A standard interior complement of: (2) Imperial combat drivers and (1) officer. A prison Immobilization Unit (can double as small passenger or storage compartment) that can house no more than (3) persons. (6) persons can be transported on the exterior.
A couple of questions do arise from this:
1. Why did the Stormtroopers not exit the ITT externally carrying cargo? My guess is there was no room for them to exit and get atop of the vehicle.
2. How much cargo can fit on one of the "cradles" and how much can be stored on top? Note that the dorsal turret can be removed to make for more storage space.
I am open to suggestions. _________________ Don Diestler

This is purely conjecture on my part, but I think this ship fits well with the undefined repulsorlift combat vehicle from the Imperial Sourcebook.
-Four man crew (driver, sensor tech, mechanic & commander/gunner).
-Two vehicles to a repulsorlift squad, with the sergeant's vehicle equipped with an additional DER scanner and a tech to run it.
-It can transport either a 4-man infantry team or one crew-served heavy weapon (E-WEB, light laser cannon) plus the crew. Alternately, can substitute cargo for passengers.
-A repulsorlift platoon includes 2 command variants with heavier armor and more powerful repulsorlifts to compensate for the armor, so what we see in the TV series could be a command vehicle with a standard vehicle squad as escorts.
EDIT: Also, per the OB, repulsorlift platoons and infantry platoons are organizationally separate up to the company level, so the repulsorlift vehicle could've easily run empty for the supply run... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. I had just noticed how this looks exactually like the Nen-Carvon PX-7 Tracked Troop Transport. Since Rebels seems to be using inspiration form past sources, I have been looking for similarities. |

The PX-7 is an anomaly, and is likely an error on the part of the story writers. The actual origin is the Reconnaissance Troop Transport, which began as a toy vehicle from the Kennet Line. Factual errors in the EU are not uncommon. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. A lot of things began as Keener toys, the defender starfighter from darkstryder was some sort of interceptor from the old droids cartoon I think that was made into a toy |

Indeed. Regarding the PX-7, however, it is likely that it was mistakenly identified as a tracked vehicle. The original RTT was intended to be repulsorlift (even though the toy was on wheels), and seeing as how the PX-7 features in a single EU story and is, as you said, very similar to the ITT. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It looks just like a smaller one, part of me thinks rebels is being a little lazy by just rebranding older vehicles and equipment and not coming up with new stuff, I mean that's one of the reasons why everyone went to see the prequels, the new tech. |

Rebels is intentionally tapping into earlier versions of designs in the development of the original Star Wars film for inspiration because the show takes place in the years immediately leading up to the original film, like how Zeb and Chopper are based on earlier versions of Wookiees and R2. The transport being based on a Kenner toy is a very obscure early aspect of the SW franchise, which may have even been based on an early vehicle design. I'm not arguing the design of Rebels is altogether successful, but I don't think it is laziness. It's a conscious choice.
Lucas even tapped into his early drafts of Star Wars for inspiration for the plot of TPM.
And speaking of the prequels, not everyone went to see the prequels for new tech. That was not even a thought in my mind. I went to see them because it was more live action theatrical Star Wars from Lucas. One of the major attractions for me were more ways that the prequels were similar to the classic films, not how they might be 'new and improved'. Most lightsaber fights. More space battles. More epic drama. More good vs. evil. As far as tech you can't really top an X-Wing destroying a Death Star, so the new tech in the prequels was just meh for me. _________________ *

Fair enough, but its all about telling a good story. If something isn't going to fit into your Star Wars Universe it shouldn't exist. On the same note, never discount any little piece of hack writing from the most talent bereft corner of the EU if it could somehow fit into the story you are trying to tell. Like all good game masters we strip what we consider lesser material for the parts and ideas that will allow our players to fully engage in a world that only exists in our minds. I personally am thrilled to see new Star Wars stories being told in any form. I can always ignore the substandard, the lazy, and the ridiculas... until some nugget fits the hole I need filled in an adventure. _________________ "Yes because killing the guy you always planned on usurping and killing anyways in order to save your own kid, totally atones for murdering a roomful of innocent trusting children."
