This is another ship class that is mentioned in passing by WEG, but never actually described. I've thought about doing stats for it every now and then, but I've found I never get motivated to do so until I find an image that inspires me. Now that I have, here is...
Wolden-Class Heavy Troop Shuttle

The Wolden-Class Heavy Troop Shuttle is an older design produced by Rendili StarDrives. Unlike its smaller sibling, the Katarn-Class Boarding Shuttle, the Wolden can serve either as a boarding shuttle or a troop transport, depending on the mission profile. The ship is also equipped with a hyperdrive, allowing it to operate independent of capital ship support. These features make the ship very attractive to the Alliance, as it fits perfectly with the Rebel's "hit-and-run" strategy. The Wolden's high speed allows it to keep pace with Alliance starfighters, and its heavy armor and shields and respectable weapons suite allow it to look after itself if it needs to. As such, the Wolden is the Alliance's weapon of choice for SpecForce raids and similar operations.
One such mission was Operation Cobolt {described in the Rebel Alliance Sourcebook}. A Wolden-Class Shuttle was the primary troop transport for the successful attack on a Ubiqtorate space station orbiting the planet Mantooine, which acquired a Imperial Intelligence ScanDoc Decoding system for Alliance Intelligence, despite a high cost in personnel and equipment.
The Wolden's modular transport bay allows it to transport a variety of different mixes of cargo and personnel. It mounts three dual heavy laser cannon for defensive and fire support purposes, an ion cannon for assault missions, and a plasma torch boarding device on its underside for forced boarding operations.

Destroyed = 5 seconds (1 round) A fully cut hull breach is 1 meter wide by 2 meters tall. Once cutting is complete, the extendable boarding collar requires three rounds to make an airtight seal.

Assault Shuttle, actually. It's designed to transport troops into a variety of different combat situations, not merely to haul them in once the gunfire has stopped. This ship is designed to enter combat and survive to deliver its payload and passengers. To pull that off, it has to be tough. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
