I suppose it depends on the group. If part of their group dynamic is built around having a cool, capable starship, which they, in turn, lost through their own stupidity, giving them a POS that they just can't seem to get rid of could be a good punishment. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Depends on what happens to their old ship? Will they get the chance to steal it back? Will they get enough cash and parts to 'soup' up their stolen one, to where it may be comparable to the old? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Pretty sure they aren't getting it back. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Just a guess here but I am thinking ..... no on getting the ship back.

I would again say no. The idea is they get a PoS for a reason. It will probably be so bad or having so many things wrong with it they will eventually have to ditch it and find another ship and possibly upgrade that one. The point is not so the group can have parity with what they had or lost, but not to be murder hobo's from outer space and think their actions through.
In my game you lose something over being stupid I don't have to give it back to you right away. Just like with my kid, you gotta earn it back. _________________ Don Diestler

SO when they do decide to ditch the one they have, will you make a 'better one' available for stealing? What of bounties on their heads from these ship thefts? How quickly will it rack up? Will they be capture only, or kill OR capture? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Just like with providing a Jedi master for training, I don't have to provide anything of the sort and as a matter of fact Bounty Hunters are on the way...LOL _________________ No matter where you go, there you are... |

You can always go the opposite way. Instead of a pour stats for a ship you give them the choice of a great looking ship (maybe something they want) that has some annoying quirks.
Example problems:
the ship manuevers the opposite way its steereds
hyperdrive needs to be engaged twice to jump to hyperspace
Maneuver acts against flight skill
Sensors scan in a random direction when activated
or any issue you think is funny or progressive to the GM's story
With a good ship the players may want to fix the problems. In that situation the GM will have oppertunity for adventure ideas for the players looking for parts or credits for the repairs |
