As the title states, I need to know what skill acupuncture would fall under?
Medicine? |

Probably. If you think it works.
Or maybe Scholar (i,e, it's it's own skill)- it could give some sort of complimentary bonus to a medicine roll if successful.
If you don't think it works then Scholar or Con.
Considering that this is Star Wars, you could assume that the flow of Ch'i is the Force and you might assume that acupuncture is somehow allowing the physical to use the Force to Heal Another- as the power, but using acupuncture skill. |

I go with it works in my games.
But I have my reasons (as a relaxant or to heal muscle problems - it does - trust me)
Medicine it is then. |

I could even see it being a specialization OF medicine. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

But most practitioners wouldn't qualify as MDs. Maybe it should be rolled into something akin to "Eastern Medicine" or "Alternative Medicine" and it could be a advanced skill of First Aid? Literally an alternative to conventional medicine. |

I could see that. Make it have only a 4d First aid pre-req, but also a scholar or cultures score of 4d. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I just had a Kung Fu Panda flashback!
You may want a Dexterity minimum of some kind, but I always thought medicine should as well. _________________ "Yes because killing the guy you always planned on usurping and killing anyways in order to save your own kid, totally atones for murdering a roomful of innocent trusting children." Given that Star Wars medical practitioners would consider what our surgeons do as something akin to blood-letting, leeches, and Civil War era amputations, it might benefit us to parse Star Wars medicine too much.
I would probably go with a specialization of medicine. Sure, you can't use it to put someone's spleen back in, but I'm sure it could potentially have some in-game use. _________________ __________________________________

Was it Kiss of the Dragon with Jet Li where he practiced acupuncture and used it offensively? I always thought that was an interesting idea. _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

yes it was Kiss of the Dragon.
In our games it is used to treat muscluar atrophy from cyro/carbon stasis
It is used to treat the penalty for a permanent reduction to Str or Dex a pip at a time per session that last hrs.
Think Matrix basically, but has a soothing affect as well and is used to help in relaxation techniques. |

I wonder what the efficacy of reflexology, chiropractic adjustments, and accupuncture would be with cybornetic limbs.
I'm guessing results would be poor. _________________ __________________________________

That it's primarily a placebo effect. Belief is the dominant factor in efficacy, one need not even use a needle to gain the benefit of acupuncture if they think there's a needle.
That's not to belittle the power and effect of placebo, mind you... it can be a powerful medical tool, even though we don't know how it works. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.
