Okay - why are all the modified versions that have MORE cargo saying they reduced the cargo space?
original stock (both wookie and P&P sourcebook for D6)
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Barloz-class_heavy_freighter
Crew: 2 / Passengers: 4 / Cargo: 85 / Consumables: 2mo / Length: 41m
-
The modifieds - and the stats that concern me.
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Solar_Flare_%28Barloz-class%29
Crew: 4 / Passengers: 6 / Cargo: 100 / Consumables: 2mo / Length: 41m
-
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Birthright
Crew: 1 / Passengers: 12 / Cargo: 100 / Consumables: 6mo / Length: 41m
-
Now there are others that more closely fit the changes - and onces that dont
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Twi%27lek_Dancer
Crew: 2 / Passengers: 3 / Cargo: 65 / Consumables: 1mo / Length: 41m
-
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Eyeshine
Crew: ? / Passengers: ? / Cargo: 80 / Consumables: 6mo / Length: ?m
-
And It begs the question - is the cargo capacity right? in the majority of the listings it comes close.
I'm asking because of the statement on wookiepedia. for the Barloz page itself:
In the latter days of the Old Republic, a medium freighter was equivalent to the light freighter of the Imperial era.
and yet the YT is one of the first "light" freighters they speak of - purposefully designed and marketed by the same manufactors - CEC
check its stats:
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/YT-700
Crew: 1 / Passengers: 4 / Cargo: 75 / Consumables: 2mo / Length: 21.7m
-
gry's book uses stats that actually match the modified version - the Jackpot
......either way.....half as long....... 75 tons.
now the new model YT's
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/YT-1300_light_freighter
the stats vary even in its listing - yet the length according to wookiee is 34.75meters, yet the stats book lists both a stock version and modified at 26.7meters and is basically what they are listed at as being in most of the weg books.
solar flare - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Solar_Flare_%28YT-1300_light_freighter%29
upgraded and 150tons - 3months consumables - 6passengers - 30meters
....the falcon - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Millennium_Falcon
enough modifications to down a normal ship by game rules into NEGATIVE tonnages - 100 tons - 6 passengers - 2 months - 34 meters
(note the WEG falcon is 26.7 meters and other stats remain the same)
with the falcon we even learn the dish width is 25.6 meters - the barloz is 20meters across in numerous listings....
now why does a ship thats longer and almost as wide as the standard yt - built by the same company, carry SO little? (regardless of the years differance in manufactoring - because that means little - look at the yt-900)
hell evidentally a 26.7m by 25.6 meter (only in the disc - reminder the barloz is more of a brick so has MORE even volume) can carry over 100tonns MORE volume according the cargo version - with TWO less passenger compartments and shields that do not come stock that TAKE UP room.
I mean I can understand the idea of ships becoming more advanced - but are you seriously going to tell me a ship that costs less and is slightly more than half as big - can carry over two times as much - and have better stats?
When its predessecor that was built in the same general design (YT-700 is a brick as well) clearly did not do ANY of this?
I know I know - its fantasy - its just a game...... *bashes head on table*
*feels slightly better* ....... *almost wants to find out how many ships from the rise of the empire era have stock x1 hyperdrives and larger capacities that are below 40meters*.....
okay........... guys have you seen this issue - and if so - what cargo do you think the barloz should have?
I'm thinking 185 ..... or at least 145 ... for crying out loud the dang ship is 1/4 larger than the YT and built square.
Just lemme know.
Funny thing........ my players probably gonna convince his gf to sell it and buy a different ship because he prefers the look of slightly more reasonably "flight worthy" ships...... |

stock ships has it at 120 tons
even when i play saga i use the 120 ton cargo limit... seeing as its so big though i can see you can maybe update its repulsor coils to handle significaltly more.... i have sorrosuub nellas in my game with that modification able to carry twice the original amount of 50 tons _________________ The Empire: We'z Ownz ALL yer'z Star Destoyerz!!! |

Perhaps this will help? It addresses the cargo discrepancy in the stat footnotes, specifically that the original stat for the Barloz was actually a modified version (specifically, the Lady Sunfire). _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
