I like the increase to an even 2D for modification purposes, it makes things nice and even. I'm wondering with some of the costs of mods above 100% if it makes more sense to have it based on the closest approximation of equipment, or the total cost of the ship. Since, for instance, they have basic replacement drives for sale in some of the equipment books, you find the space rating on a drive closest to your ship's starting rating and use that price to determine modification cost. 125% of a ship cost could be ridiculously expensive for some ships, which could be okay, but if I remember correctly, if you take the base cost for some of the top end sub-light drives, it might actually be more expensive to modify the drive cost as opposed to the ship cost. But, for lower end drives, it would be less expensive, so if a ship starts with a space 3 rating, it could be modified up to an 8 for a reasonably cheap price... which if combined with the modification mishap rules from Tramp Freighters, it should balance out nicely. _________________ RR

yup i do use the mishap tables.. but only invoke them for "partial" sucesses at modding out things......... I.E.: if the PCs fail at a roll but only by so much and within a certain amount...... or Succeed, but a wild die complication comes up........ Hence.. the Falcon, for instance.... It had.. a LOTA.... Partial sucesses in moding it over the years....... I don't beive in punishing a player if sussessful or wildy sucessfull.... unless in both cases the wild die roll warents it. _________________ The Empire: We'z Ownz ALL yer'z Star Destoyerz!!! |
