There is already a case for all this to have happened already and in a more official capacity...

Star Trek
R2 in the recent Trek movies and the following as well...

Star Trek: Deep Space NineEdit
File:KiraBreen.JPG
On his way to space station Deep Space 9 in 2369, the Bajoran criminal Ibudan chartered a space flight out of Alderaan Spaceport.
The Breen race wear costumes that resemble the Ubese armor worn by Princess Leia in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. And in fact, in the series finale, What You Leave Behind, Commander Kira emulates Leia by using the Breen armor as a disguise.
In the episode "Treachery, Faith and the Great River," Nog describes a Ferengi concept called the Great Material Continuum, which he says is "the force that binds the universe together," likely a reference to Obi-Wan Kenobi's dialogue in A New Hope.
In the episode "The Adversary", Chief O'Brien says "I have a bad feeling about this".
Star Trek: EnterpriseEdit
The Xindi superweapon is a large, spherical station/ship with a beam weapon capable of destroying an entire planet. Its appearance and function strongly resemble the Death Star, which was intentional, as Rick Berman wanted it that way.
One episode features a ship called the ISS Avenger, which was named as an homage to the Star Destroyer Avenger. The homage is all the more appropriate in that the episode takes place in the Mirror Universe, where Starfleet is not a primarily scientific branch of the diverse, benevolent Federation, but the brutal military arm of the oppressive, Human-dominated Terran Empire.
The episode Kir'Shara features a holographic device that contains ancient Vulcan teachings called the Kir'Shara. The Kir'Shara is shaped like a Sith Holocron, and it's purpose (containing ancient teachings) is similar to the purpose of holocrons. The history it records - the schism in which the cool, logical Vulcans and the fiery, passionate Romulans evolved into separate races - is also similar to the ancient Force Wars between the light and dark sides.
Star Trek: The Next GenerationEdit
The name Vader can be seen on a gravestone in the episode "Sub Rosa" (see here).
in "Encounter at Farpoint", the drug dispenser worn by Q is labeled "Army R2D CPO" a reference to R2D2 and C-3PO (see here).
In "Up the Long Ladder", a computer display shows a list of old colony ships and their purposes. One of these ships shows its purpose as "Diplomatic Mission to Alderaan."
Star Trek: VoyagerEdit
The names of some Star Wars species are also used for species on the show, such as Quarren and Bothans - Quarren is used for a character as well.
One episode features a character named Kashyk.
Several episodes feature a shperical Borg vessel. Having been created by ILM for Star Trek: First Contact at the same time that they were working on the Special Edition re-releases, its resemblance to the Death Star has been stated to be at least somewhat intentional - a schematic of the ship in one episode is a near-perfect replica of the Death Star plans seen in the briefing before the Battle of Yavin.
One episode mentions a species called the Nar Shaddan, an obvious reference to Nar Shaddaa - in fact, the three crew members meeting with the Nar Shaddan were the only ones not kidnapped by the Quarren.

A passing mention of a planet that happens to share the same name, or a visual nod to another universe does NOT constitute a crossover. At best its an in-joke.

This thread is starting to worry me. How about we all take a breath, realize that all of our opinions will not be the same, and maintain civility.

Universe. Setting. Another author's mind. You know I was referring to universe in the context of us as players/GM; not "we-ripped-spacetime-from-star-wars-and-look-now-there-is-talking-snow, Carrionite Witches and the Family of Blood"

Aeigisflashfire, I have been reasonable. Ive said one timelord, one TARDIS and a broken crippled TARDIS at that. I conceded, no time travel. and now you accuse me of throwing other elements into the Rpg when my intentions are as i stated, one guy, one ship, thats it.

Now you throw another accusation at me, for something I am most definitly not going to do.

You seem to think Im going to bring every Doctor Who monster and alien from Abominable Snowmen to the Zarbi

Im not.

Can someone tell me when I have been unreasonable on this thread?Where?

It simply occurs to me that your perspective for this is thid is so narrow of focus and so close minded, its affecting your reasoning. you make sweeping statements and incorrect accusation about things I plan to do in this hypothetical game.

You acknowledge other fictional universes but dont allow the existence ofvother universes in SWU , itself a fictional universe.

That argument is inconsistant, self serving, and shows how much a narrow perspective is affecting your judgement.

Is Star Wars the only RPG you play?

I think this particular argument has reached the point where the best approach is to agree to disagree. aegisflashfire is obviously opposed to the idea of time travel in the SWU, and willg is not. Speaking for myself, I feel that attempting to crossover Star Wars and Dr. Who will overly dilute one or the other, with the only real in game effect being an in-game cameo that has the potential to be amusing for the GM and PCs, but also has the potential to take away from the story arc for the PCs. I have done crossovers from the Aliens/Predator and Warhammer 40K universes, so I agree with the general concept of crossovers; I just wouldn't use this one.

That being said, if it works for you and your players enjoy it, knock yourself out.

Unfortunately the existence of the timelord includes the existence of EVERYTHING else from that universe. Even if they're never seen 'on screen' in your campaign, the introduction of this character contains within it the implicit existence of everything else from that fictional universe.

Lets put it another way. You're suddenly beamed aboard the USS Defiant. Captain Sisko, (who is exactly the Sisko from the TV series and the exact USS Defiant from the series) is there and wants to have a chat. Then he beams you home.

In order for there to BE a Captain Sisko, and a USS Defiant, there has to be a Starfleet. There has to be a United Federation of Planets. The Defiant was built to fight the Borg, so there are Borg. The Defiant has a cloaking device from the Romulans, so there are Romulans. Captain Sisko discovered the Wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant, so there are the Prophets & Bajorans and all the various species of the Gamma Quadrant and the Dominion.

Just by the establishment of 2 facts: Captain Sisko and the Defiant you imply a huge web of other facts that in turn imply other facts that establish a universe. Now, you CAN go in and start checking off all the things that it 'doesnt' imply but now they have to be done explicitly. You basically have to go back in and 'turn off' all those other parts of the universe you just imported into your own.

That's the problem you keep trying to gloss over. (and still ignoring all the questions I've asked)

Where is this rule written down? If willg wishes, he can do a partial crossover or simply mine the Whoniverse for ideas rather than transplanting it in toto.
