I know there are rules for upgrading and souping up Space Transports, but the book says there would be upcoming rules for other scales of starships. Was this ever followed up on? |

I think it was in 2E R&E, in the Repair Skills section. They basically generalized the rules in Tramp Freighters to apply to all ships and equipment. _________________ "I still wouldn't have a roll for it - but that's just how I roll." |

The D6 Conversion of the Starships of the Galaxy (Saga Edition) listed the following conversion guidelines:Converting to Snubfighters
Cost: x1.5 (for miniaturization costs)
Space: (# of metric tons) +12 = # of kilograms
Converting to Capital Ships
Cost: x20
Space: (# of metric tons) x20 = # of metric tons
These conversion rules are not necessarily designed to be convert previously existing West End Games supplements, or with equipment described outside of this conversion guide. However, it can serve as a general guideline for installing equipment in this guide in other starship types. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Um.... wait, what?
Isnt it just a percentage of the ship's value in credits, a repair roll and enough time to add +1 pip to a characteristic? Can be repeated until 1D+2 over base is reached... or so I thought. |

I think crmcneill is talking about installing equipment rather than upgrading what the ship already has. _________________ "I still wouldn't have a roll for it - but that's just how I roll." |

Correct. What I posted is intended as a conversion to allow characters to convert equipment intended for space transports over to starfighters or capital ships. For instance, if you wanted to install a Scoop on a starfighter (GG6 page 42), you would run its stats (15 tons, 15,000 credits) through the conversion rules to get 27 kilograms and 22,500 credits. Conversely, if you wanted to mount a Scoop on a Capital Ship, you would end up with 300 metric tons and 300,000 credits.
It's not the best system, but it is useful as a starting point. It might be possible to insert a modifier based on Hull dice, so that a piece of equipment suitable for a Corellian Corvette will be smaller and less expensive than something intended for a Star Destroyer. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. I see it as a way to get a ballpark estimate that will be adjusted to a reasonable number. _________________ "I still wouldn't have a roll for it - but that's just how I roll." |

Faster drives, stronger shields, better maneuvering systems, etc. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Yes. Instead of direct upgrades to the system, I was hoping for rules for replacement systems, and miscellaneous upgrades. |

Unfortunately, those don't really exist, in the RAW or otherwise. The closest it gets is what is described above; converting replacement parts for space transports into replacement parts for starfighters using the conversion rules. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Where's this starship construction system located? |
