I seem to recall, and Wookiepedia substantiates this, that Pondo Baba had his mind transferred into another of his species.
Is there an RPG equivalant or rule for this guys? |

There is a dark side power that allows this...It's in the Tales of the Jedi book, but I can't remember the name. _________________ No matter where you go, there you are... |

I not believe there is an actual piece of official equipment that does what your asking. The incident your referring to references a unique piece of equipment that was "lost" or destroyed. This does not mean that you cannot "create" a similar piece of equipment for your universe.
All that needs done it write-up what it does, "transfers personality from one living creature to another." Put some limitations on it if you want, "only sentient species." Figure out how long it takes, what skill would be needed, are any special skills required, does the person being transferred need to make a roll for success (perhaps a Willpower or Stamina roll).
And there you have it, one personality transfer machine =) _________________ Don Diestler

I know Palpaltine used the dark side to do tis, so if his body died off, he could possess one of his clones and stay alive. But allowing tech like this to exist, imo is getting close to allowing a 'resurrection' like capacity. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

According to the guide to Characters it was a device originally used to reprogram or wipe droid minds, modified by Dr Evazan to transfer Pondo Babas mind into another Aqualish. It worked, but the other Aqualish then ended up in Pondo Babas body too.
Theres another instance of a guy uploading himself mentally into a droid. Wether that means hes copied his mind or it is his actual mind , im unsure.
It could be utilised to copy ones mental patterns and put them in a clone body, which is what Palpatine did, using the force. What Im trying to establish is if it can be done technologically.
Could the guy in the R2 droid become human again? Or at least copy of the memories already copied?
I dont want to exlude the soul in this, because things like that exist, such as force ghosts. |

I just read the short story on this. It was featured in the 'Tales from The Mos Eisley Cantina' book. It didn't transfer both ways, as it was purported to by Evizan... His real intention was to transfer one way, from the original host to the 'victim'. His reason for doing this was to claim another, unscarred body and duck his death sentence on twelve star systems. He had the helmets misaligned and instead of transferring Ponda to the other Aqualish, it went the other way...the Aqualish to Ponda's body. It never stated whether Ponda ended up happily in the other Aqualish's body, but the read seemed to indicate that it was a one way transfer, not both ways. |

Right, Id assumed scince Pondo Baba shows up later it worked...
It DID work , if you think about it.
Plus the idea was to transfer into a mindless clone. |

Oh, it worked...just backwards...The Senator's brain in Ponda's body...the intent was to put Ponda's brain into the Senator's body.
It should also be noted that this story was post ANH, as the Ponda body already had a cheapy mechanical arm to replace the one Obi-Wan lopped off in the Cantina.
As for mindless clone...Evizan was...twisted. Earlier in the story he was scoping out 'physically perfect' sentients to become his new physique. This information was used by a Bounty Hunter to gain entrance into his reinforced lair. So no mindless clone there...he was intending to steal someone's body. |

Evizan was nutty....brilliant but deranged
And assuming you could recreate this experiment, you have at least a one way mind transfer.
Unlike Evizan, the hypothetical transfer subject is wanting to survive but in a clone body |

If something like this existed, i would definitely say using it would be gaining a DSP, even with copying yourself into a clone body.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

The bigger (RPG) question to me is what Attributes get swapped/transferred?
Some games have it easy, with half of the stats being 'physical' and the other half 'mental', but SW D6 isn't that easy.
To me, Strength and Dexterity are clearly physical, and Knowledge and Perception are probably 'mental'. MEC and TEC are tougher, as they seem to be more a mix between the two. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

A lot of these scenarios Ive come up with, I wont use, but i still love the discussion and the exchange of ideas.
On a related note, what about uploading into a Droid?
And would there be any difference , stat wise, between a conventional type droid or a custom built Human Rep/ica droid? |

Actually i would say only your skills transfer, not attributes.
Your older body may have been wired for better knowledge (Race has higher min/max) than your new body, so you can only have a know trait equal to what the new body has. BUT the skills on the other-hand i do see transferring. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

" A new body is luke a new house, it takes a little while to settle in". |
