Maybe Mace never bothered to learn that power or maybe he thought dodging out of the way was a better tactical decision.

That said, flamethrower for sure is energy. Engine wash I'd split where the closer to the engine you are the more the damage would be energy, while the farther away you are more physical damage would result.
