On the sonic attack.
Is there an opposed dodge roll?
Is it resisted with Str or Per? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Couldn't the Charge be countered by an opposed Strength roll? Dex is appropriate if you are just Dodging the attack... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It lists it as a sonic "stun" attack. Treat as stun. _________________ Don Diestler

Its a stun blast ... sonic stun blast. It can be dodged, it is not an area effect, it is nothing special. ITS A STUN BLAST. Its based on sound instead of energy. ITS A STUN BLAST!

Its just a question ... a written question. It can be dodged, it doesn't have to be answered, its nothing special. ITS A QUESTION. Its a verbal request for clarification instead of making a wrong assumption. ITS JUST A QUESTION!

P.S. You still haven't answered my question on the Charge attack, but as I previously stated, you can dodge it or just keep not answering it. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Seriously, though, all official sonic weapon stats have a cone shaped effect, so dodging a sonic attack would likely bear similarities to the Dodge rules for blast radius weapons. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Sorry I missed your post earlier. I like the idea of it being STR as opposed to being a DEX. I will make the change. Thank you, this makes a lot more sense to me.

I was not aware there were official stats or even sonic weapons, let alone that it was in a cone. Some reference material would be nice if you can post it. Again, thanks for the input. As for the Howler having a cone attack, as I envision the creature no. To me it is able to make a concentrated attack that funnels the sound in a very restricted range. To me from a creature, this makes sense. With that being said, it is Star Wars and the GM can make it cone shaped if he so desires and if so, may decide it cannot be dodged.

Respectfully this time. Its a STR resistance to soak. Yes a dodge is allowed. _________________ Don Diestler

The conversion stats from the Arms and Equipment Guide describe weapons with a linear effect, but the original stats for sonic weapons are found in the Han Solo & The Corporate Sector Sourcebook, and they describe a narrow cone effect (expands out to 3 meters wide at long range). Personally, considering the nature of the creature and of sound, I would have it be an area effect weapon, affecting anything in the creature's forward fire arc, with partial effect to the sides and minimal effect to the rear. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Rodger.
The reason i was asking about a dodge, is i was wondering if you envisioned this 'sonic' attack as a cone like blast from the creatures mouth, or would it be more like a directed wave? if the latter, i can see the dodge. but with a cone like attack, i might go with how the Deck sweeper is with their dodgability. No chance at short range, -4d at medium, and -2d at long.
And to offset it, you could say tier the damage to say 4d+2 short/4d medium/3d+1 long.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
