In my version of the rules, lightsaber combat does not need to be "kept up". It functions much like detoxify poison. It remains passive, until an attack triggers it.
Without it you simply don't have the option of blocking blasters and must use the Dodge skill.

SO once learned its always up? Is your view of DP also house ruled, since BTB its supposed to be kicked in, not always there and just waits to be activated??

Yes, I guess you could put it that way. Once it's learned it's always up.
But it's not really "up". It just allows the Jedi to do something that he otherwise wouldn't.
Again this should be very clear if you read my original description.
It's like someone having an ability that let's him use brawling parry to block melee weapons for instance.

I don't undertand the second question of your post. Perhaps you can clarify Very Happy

The way you are seeing it, its almost like me saying once a jedi learns danger sense, he never needs to activate it.. its like a spidy sense in its always available..

Not really Very Happy
In fact danger sense has nothing to do with this. It's (like) saying that once a Jedi learns lightsaber combat, he has the option to deflect blasters using his sense skill instead of dodging them with his dodge skill. He still has to roll, just like with every other force skill/power.
It's like saying that when a Jedi is wounded he has the option of staying wounded or using the control pain power.
It's like saying that if a Jedi is looking for someone, he can either roll his perception or use his life sense power.

And finally and much more relevant:
It's like saying that when a Jedi is the target of a poison he has the option of using his Detoxify poison power, or simply rolling his strength to resist damage.

It's not something that is automatically "on", for free. It's just a new way of using your sense skill. It still has to be rolled, it still has a chance of failing. Nothing is gained for free and nothing unbalanced occurs (like in the example you gave).

I hope you're able to understand it now Very Happy

[BentuSinn] Could you please post a complete round or two of combat for us? Preferably using multiple actions. Especially with the use of blocking and deflecting and how they relate to MAPs. I would really appreciate it. I am not the dumbest person in the room, but I am still having trouble understanding. So instead of having you try to explain the mechanics again, a demonstration is in order methinks. Thanks!

Sure thing Very Happy
But do me a favor first. Read my original post again. Thoroughly. And keep the mindset that this is not more complicated than the RAW. In fact the exact opposite is the case.

Do this, and if my variation of the rules still presents a problem for you, I will be glad to script a round-by-round example.

I have read it, several times and there are specific things I do not understand and I have either missed in your additional posts. Hence the reason for an example of combat.

I will write up a couple of rounds of combat, using my rules then Very Happy
However it's late at night here and I'll do it in the morning Smile

But I gotta say, if you have read all my posts and still don't understand, I have some doubts that any further explainations from me will help Smile
Perhaps you should consider using some of the other rule-variations on these boards Very Happy

Perhaps you could tell which things you specifically want me to include in the combat sequence. It would help me a lot
