I think just about everybody at the table knows when those moments happen. IME they're pretty universal and understood. The only tough part is to keep in mind whether it was something simply done for the character's own well-being, or if it benefitted someone else they were trying to keep safe/protect.
If there's any doubt, GMs and players could take a page from the Marvel Heroic Roleplaying game, which is to throw it out to the whole table and let the group decide... _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

Force awards are actually quite simple:
1. Selfish motives ... lose the Force Point.
2. Heroic motives ... gets it back at the end of the adventure.
3. Super-Heroic ... gets it back plus another one at the end of the adventure. _________________ Don Diestler
