Has anyone ever dealt with non-force based psionic abilities in Star Wars D6 RPG? How did you do this? An example would be a race that has telepathic or telekinetic abilities that are no force based. Did you create a PSI ability similar to a force power for them to use as a stat? _________________ "That was left handed!" |

To me, that sounds kind of like a violation of the setting. So, no.
But whatever trips your trigger in your own games, man |

I believe that the Darkstryder campaign had something like this in their Endgame module. I've looked at it, but I haven't studied in in any great detail. _________________ __________________________________

I've asked about it in the past, like say wanting to make a pyro kinetic, or the like, but it boils down to "its all just a variation on the force".. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I agree, and I believe there's precedence for it. Don't the Witches of Dathomir call it something besides the force?
Though the Verpine have some sort of hive mind as a racial ability if I remember correctly.
I suppose if you really want to be non-force but do forcy things, you could tie it to an attribute, either directly or as an advanced skill under it. I say advanced for the increase requirement so its not 'neat, forcy without the imps hunting me', and 'wheee, I can dump points and become super powerful quicker than a Jedi!' That or treat it like solo force building for cp costs.

For D6 psionic abilities, I highly recommend the (free) Into the Shadows RPG.
It's a modern version of D6 used for horror/adventure settings/genres, and it works really well (I've GMd it a number of times). There's full on details for Psionics in it, as well as other stuff like magic, "holy" abilities and others that could easily be ported over to SW, if someone was so inclined. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

IIRC there is also the D6 System Book, which is just a cookbook sort of core rulebook that predates the "D6 Trilogy" of Space, Adventure, and Fantasy. It has some psionics in it as well. _________________ __________________________________

Kinda curious why no one has thought to use the psionics rules from Shatterzone. It's D6 compatible. _________________ Don Diestler

You happen to have a link to the Shatterzone rules?

They do call it something else, but it still is the force. just in 'songs and spells'. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

|
|
From Wookiepedia (In this case would one create a "psionic" or "telepathy" attribute or skill that was not related to control, sense or alter?
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Telepathy
"Some species, such as the Iktotchi, the Hortek, the Quermians
, Zeltrons, Umbarans, and the Draethos, had evolved a natural telepathic ability, common even to those of their number who could not touch the Force. When trained as Jedi, their natural talents were often magnified a thousandfold or more. This was the case with Saesee Tiin, whose natural prowess in the ability caused him great discomfort during his years as a Padawan. It was not until he was trained by Jedi Master Omo Bouri that he learned to better control his telepathic sense.[1] Some Lamproids exhibited natural telepathy, although this was not a species-wide trait.[2] " _________________ "That was left handed!" |

...In the Planets of the Galaxy book (2nd. Ed., which combines all three), there is a race called the Ee: a race of worms that employ psionics. Another example is in the Twins Stars of Kira book: a floating jellyfish-like race on one of the worlds (can't recall the planet or name of the race at the moment) that employ psionics. So there has actually been some material put out...granted, it's not very extensive.
...Use of Shatterzone, & other D6 books which have such abilities, always allows for creativity! _________________ The man who thinks he knows everything is most annoying for those of us that do. |

Schnarre, I think the floating jellyfish-like race you are thinking of might be the Kalduu

Do either of those races mention give stats and rules for how that telepathy is to be used?
What if say i wanted to make a race of precogs, or pyrokinetics? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
