Twice since yestarday evening i have tried getting on the holonets, and whether going to the forums or just even the base SWRPGNETWORK main site, i get 'redirected' to log into facebook.
Anyone know what is going on?? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

They got hacked by some people exploiting a back door in vbbs, so Rod took the site down temporarily. He wants to have it back up and running soon. _________________ __________________________________

Rod made a post on the Holonet Facebook site, but the nature of facebook makes it so that notices can get buried if they're not popular enough. _________________ __________________________________

Do you guys find a lot of good stuff on that site (when it's working, of course)? _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

It used to be the go-to site for Star Wars RPG discussion. When the Rancor Pit forums came online they were a close second to the traffic they had. But as time went on, things kind of waned. They had a big bug for a LONG time that interfered with many user's ability to login, and people got out of the habit of going there.
In terms of conversions and whatnot, it also used to be THE place to go, since it gave service to both d20 and D6, not to mention a few Star Wars RPG authors were users there. But, again, things kind of waned. Part of that might be the time that Rod had to split between being the guy in charge of the site and the guy in charge of the Saga Edition at WotC. But there were fewer submissions getting approved, less traffic on the site, and so things kind of meandered away.
Now it has a few dedicated users. The old submissions are still as good as they ever were, but there's just less going on there than there used to be. _________________ __________________________________

Thanks for that description, cheshire. If it was more active I'd consider becoming a regular there. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

I used to haunt it back in the "old days". Like Ches said, I'd check here, then check there. I know Garhk and a few others were on both. _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

With how little traffic the holonet seems to have gotten in the past year, and this being the 2nd time in the past year they got 'hacked' and have been down, i am seriously considering just ignoring that site, even if it comes back up sometime soon.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Hey guys-- while I am not in the know on the technical end, I can tell you that the admins are working on restoring the site as best they can.
These guys are working professionals, however, as is the gentleman donating his time to sorting out the code. Because of that, we do not have an ETA as of yet, but the Holonet is absolutely working on recovery.
Thank you for your patience,
Rostek
