Crell listen to Gryphon explanation with a mixed expresion of surprise and fun.
"Who says this is a military ship?" he ask after Gryphon's first sentence.
The little droid emits some beeps and the Captain smiles. "I see, hahaha it seems that our little friend has some military training after all!" he taps the astromech, somehow pleased with the droid.
He then let's Gryphon end
"Well, I am afraid that you are misinformed about some points here. This is no Jedi vessel, this is my ship, and in my ship I am the one who set the rules. Do not argue with me in this point. Your Masters had given me the ship. It's not what I would have chosen, but it will suffice. Now, my end of the bargain is to take you and your group when you need to go. Fine, I will. I will keep my word, not as many of the ones you are about to face on the real galaxy kiddo, but let's this have clear. I am not taking orders for anyone. If you want us to be a team let me do my job. I will not interfere with your Sith hunt and your voodoo things and we will work greased as a well W-4500 corellian engine. Do you want to be on the bridge while we takeoff, fine, but do not expect me or LT to be your teachers. "
Before Gryphon could reply another voice enters the conversation.
"Are we ready to depart Captain? Everything is alright?" the femenine and calm voice belongs to Lebenha who looked at the two men with her golden eyes.
"If that doesn't bothers you Captain, we would like to accompany you while you take-off and set course to our destiny."
Crell mumbles something like "As you want" and turns towards his controls. He seems to relax while manipulating some swichts and buttons. Gryphon could see that he does some of procedures twice in order to calm down.
A few minutes later he opens the intercom of the ship.
"This is your captain speaking. We are ready for taking off. Unfortunately the bridge is full of capacity right now, but the rest of you can enjoy the views at the starboard viewscreen"
He then pulls the controls of the ship and the engines come to live. The low hum of the engines confirms all that the ship is on top condition and thanks to the gentle maneuvers they are soon off the warship and into the void of the space.
Crell moves the ship in a wide arc and all can see the inmense assault ships of the Republic and the multiple shuttles between them while the astromech droid makes their jump calculations.
A pair of starfighters escorts them towards their jump coordinates.
"This is Aurek Leader. You are clear to go. May the Force be with you."
With that Crell pulls the lever, connecting the hyperspace engines and the stars became lines while the transport makes the jump to their destiny.

Gryphon straps himself into the co-pilot's couch, inwardly already not liking their pilot. His attitude was not conducive to them working as a team, and that bothered the newly-minted Jedi Knight. He runs through several meditative exercises his Masters taught him to calm himself down and focus.
Once his focus has returned, Gryphon watches Crell very closely, taking mental notes on everything the pilot does. Once the ship is safely in hyperspace and put on autopilot, Gryphon unbuckles the crash restraints and heads for the lounge, and a computer terminal.
During the trip, he spends his time looking for anything he can find concerning piloting a starship, and begins studying intently, looking for similarities between what he's reading and what Crell did. |

Gryphon finds himself often at a computer terminal, something virtually unknown to him during his training as a Jedi Padawan. His natural talents lay in the combat arts, and (obviously) with the Force. His studying of starship piloting requires him to spend long hours in front of a computer, rather than moving about and engaging in physical training. Sure, it's similar to many of the training sessions he had with the Masters at the Temple; but it didn't play to his strengths, his proclivities. He often has to pause the simulations to stretch his muscles, but he works his way through it, determined to learn everything he needs to know to in order to take the helm, should their overly private pilot suddenly find himself incapacitated...or worse. |
