Gotta agree.
His work is fine, in what it is... but what Star Wars is doesn't mesh with what is his work. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

Well said. I don't want Star Wars to become what Star Trek has become: a soap opera that makes little sense. _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

Why>? he was executive producer on one of my fave Mel gibson films, forever young, produced ghost protocol and super 8, and is an executive producer on many episodes of revolution, person of interest and lost. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Executive producer and director are two different animals. I'd be fine with him producing, but not directing.
Some of his work is alright, but after seeing what he's done to Star Trek I don't want him near Star Wars.
He'll have Boba Fett go back in time and murder Han Solo's grandfather, setting up a "new" universe. The blasters will look cheap and be largely ineffective. The plot will be nonsensical and full of holes.
I'm a fan of Star Trek but he screwed it all up.

I actually don't think he really changed the spirit or tone of Star Trek, though I suppose we'll see how this next movie turns out. Trek's always had the themes he used... he just brought in some better action. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

Compared to insurrection, generations and nemesis, i felt his re-imagined trek was very good. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Given the understanding that it was a re-imagined trek, I rather liked it. Though if we are going to give J.J. Abrams a Star Wars film, I'd like to see it from a very different angle. Saaaaaay... a holocam recording what happens when a lone Rancor lands in the middle of a coastal town on Alderaan. I think he could pull that off. _________________ __________________________________

On January 3rd? Not that its not deserving, just somewhat premature... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

It's a nomination. There will be more nominees.
What's the nominal number of nominees? _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |
