Hi Guys,
Firstly well done on such a great resource, there is so much to be garnered by looking through these forums!
...I am not a complete newbie in RPG, I used to gamemaster some stuff in the 80's when I was young, mainly Fighting Fantasy (I was young!) then all of the Battletech variants, board and RPG. I didn't know Star Wars was an option back then (small country village in the UK)!
I now live in New Zealand where there are a few clubs playing some stuff, but none seem to have kept Star Wars alive. This leaves me with the only option of playing with my kids, and finding scant info on the web.
I've managed to acquire through the few eBay sellers willing to ship this far a variety of resources including the First Edition Rulebook and Sourcebook, then various editions of the supplements.
My question is this, and please be gentle with me...
It is easy to find information about the difference between the second, and enhanced second rulebook. But I need to know what the differences are between First and Second edition, to help me use the supplements effectively.
Is there anything like this in the forums (I have searched the internet to no avail and this forum but can't narrow the results down beyond 3000!)?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. |

Unfortunately the 1st -> 2nd conversion rules are printed in the 2e rulebook (Appendix 2, pg 164-165). Of course, this is just for converting items, ships and the like, not rule changes; the Force, for example, is completely different in 2e than in 1e. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

I feel your pain. New Zealand is a small country so it can be difficult to find groups for D6 Star Wars. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Thanks for the update. Good to know. Sounds like I need to get hold of a copy of the 2nd Edition! |

You can either download it online (If you dont need/want a hard copy) or you can find it on Amazon.com for a pretty reasonable price most of the time. |

Thanks everybody, from what you've said it seems it can be summarised as...
"You can upgrade the First Edition Adventures and Supplements to play with 2nd and 2nd Edition Expanded Rules, but due to the different rules, mostly to do with rule changes around *the force*, you cannot 'downgrade' subsequent edition supplements for use with the 1st Edition rules." |

This is more for anyone finding this thread after me, but I found this which is on topic and interesting.
It discusses the difference in force powers between the editions.

I definitely will get one rolling. I'll be starting with the 1st edition as it'll be with Kids, the simplicity I've noted over the force in the 2nd edition actually appeals. Should mean less focus on rule, more on flow and play. My boy has already requested a trip to the Death Star. How could I possibly refuse! |
