Really stupid question.

How many Character Points does one start with?

R&E pg 28 - "Finishing the Template" box, third paragraph, first sentance:

"All characters start the game with five Character Points."

actually the book states (at least in 2nd ed)

that a force sensative character starts with 5 cp and an additional force point, all other characters start with 10cp

hmm.. I appear to be mistaken.. that was a house-rule used to compensate for the additional force point granted to force sensitive characters, sorry Razz

That's cool. The balancing point is supposed to be that Forse sensitive character have to watch their actions because of the fear of the dark side. So, it's the fact that they have to watch their actions and that they could turn. WEG handled it more like a negative onto the FS's to balance the extra force point instead of giving the NFS's something to comensate for not having 2 FP's.

I can understand why you might house rule the NFS's something extra though.

My group gives all beginning characters 10 character points, even for force sensitive. The reasoning for this is so that after your first mission, you have more points to up skills in what direction you have chosen your character to take. A little extra buffer just in case you didnt build your character exactly how you wanted it. We also don't penalize force sensitive characters just for the fact that it is extremely rare to see a force point used (I have been playing with my group for about 4 years and have only seen 1 force point spent).

2nd edition, R&E, as already quoted on page 28 says 5 CP to start with. This is in the first sentence of the third paragraph of the Finishing the Tempalte section. Page 29, in the Decide if the Character is Force-Sensitive section says satarting Force-sensitives get 2 FP while starting none Force-sensitives only get 1 FP.
