I'm working on a new marginally practical weapon (tm). The idea is six simultaneously-firing .223 rifle barrels all bound together in top-break pepper box gun. They would have about a 1-5 MOA spread. Kind of a long range shotgun...
Anyone with stats input, it would be appreciated. I don't wanna go off the deep end and make it more powerful than it would be in Star Wars. If it matters, I was thinking of a standard 3 hollowpoints, and 3 full metal jacket load.
I'll draw it up in SketchUp later and post links and a picture. _________________ Or that excessively long "Noooooooooo" was the Whining Side of the Force leaving him. - Dustflier

What would be the purpose of such a gun? _________________ My Biggest Beard Retard award goes to: The Admiral of course.. |

Something along those lines?

| Very much so, just bigger cartridges in fewer numbers.

I thought this might help figure out the recoil factor for shooting 6 .223 Remington rounds at once. | Thanks, that's extremely useful!
Interestingly enough, it seems that six rounds of .223 Remmington comes out just under that of my .30-06 firing the 180 grain rounds I usually buy. Downright practical, from a recoil standpoint, at least! Maybe I should add a 7th barrel... _________________ Or that excessively long "Noooooooooo" was the Whining Side of the Force leaving him. - Dustflier

Why not just use a Flechette Rifle from the game itself? |

Ray wrote: | Why not just use a Flechette Rifle from the game itself? | It's a similar, but slightly different idea. Flechette launchers fire projectiles that break up or explode in flight, releasing dozens of tiny darts. Rifle bullets hit harder, and the spread of this weapon is from the muzzle, so you don't need to screw around with rangefinding or fusing. _________________ Or that excessively long "Noooooooooo" was the Whining Side of the Force leaving him. - Dustflier

Just thinking that there was something similar already made, is all.
But, yeah, there's advantages to shotguns as well. |

I always thought that a pulse rifle fired a single projectile that blew up on impact. Kinda like a mini grenade launcher. _________________ Or that excessively long "Noooooooooo" was the Whining Side of the Force leaving him. - Dustflier
