So, anyone ever done a game where it was purely police style investigations into whom the baddie was?? kind of like doing a criminal profile on whom you are looking for??

What skills were used the most?
What were the target numbers mostly seen?

I have had a police game, but we were playing it before procedural dramas like CSI and Criminal minds really became popular (Law & Order being an exception)

As befitting SW, the game was more pulpy and action oriented, though there was certainly opportunities to focus on investigative skills (almost all found under Perception).

Criminal Minds is probably a good place to start if looking to a procedural/investigative game. With its greater focus on intuiting the Un-sub vs. direct investigation, they open up the use of a broader skill sets.

Knowledge & Perception for constructing a portrait of the Un-sub
Dex, Mech, and Str for the apprehension
Tech & Per for investigation

That's probably more general than you were hoping for...

In our game just about every aspect of the character could be put to use.. Dex (combat skills, Running), Knowledge (Willpower, Intimidation, Language, Alien species, etc.), Mechanical (various vehicle skills, sensors), Perception (search, investigate, bargain, persuade), Stength (Brawling, stamina) Technical (computer P/R, demolition, Security)

To name a few...

Done it in almost every game but SW. Back when Vampire TM was in 2ed, we used hunter hunted stats and did a bunch with the movie Seven and 100 Bullets comic in mind. We also had a time a 24 or 48 hour time crunch due to the backlog of cases. Cool when there are only two players who are not big on combat games and need a change of pace.

I would think that the Empire's military force would have a CID/NCIS agency which would make great for Barney Miller in Space. Maybe group them into a independent and near sovereign category like Fed Marshall in the late 1800s USA working jobs like in Firefly [only not getting shot by Mal]. Also tie them up with counter intelligence operations and I think you have a start of something fun.

My current group like more wacky and useless characters. Don’t think they would go for the Hill Street but they might do something along the like of Psych.
Embarassed

Although the implementation of it may have been a little off, Crisis on Cloud City was designed to be a murder mystery. Might be time to do a "revisited" on it to "fix" that adventure to create a better mystery.
