as the title says, I'm simply wondering:
What is the highest debt you have seen on a published template.
And what is the highest starting credits/ biggest pile of stuff you have seen a template start with?
I have noticed that equipment varies outrageously from template to template, and often for no reason at all.
Have an other gms out there came up with a way to ease the playing field a bit in this regard? |

Biggest cash total I've seen is probably the high stakes gambler from the Tapani books, they start with a datachip holding a verified credit line of 10,000 credits and the Imperial Diplomat which starts with 10,000 cash.
The Holovid celebrity starts with 8,000 credits including a 4,000 advance on their next contract.
Other than that, you have the Imperial Noble, Classy Smuggler, & Rebel Conspirator at 5,000 credits, plus a little bit of gear.
Highest debt I've seen is 25,000 credits on the smuggler & imperial smuggler templates, but one of the Tapani templates, the disguise artist starts off with a stock civilian Y-wing fighter. Valued 135,000 new, 65,000 used. The New Republic Pilot's template has an X-wing starfighter included in the template valued 150,000.
Glancing through the template collection there's the Tramp Freighter Captain template which has a 40,000 credit debt to a loan shark.
Hope this helps with your situation. _________________ RR

The biggest cash equivalent that I have seen on a starting template is the Privateer Captain, who starts with a "modified Corellian Corvette". A stock, used Corellian Corvette has a listed value of 1.5 million credits, and this doesn't count however the ship is "modified". I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that the modified Corellian Corvette is the one suggested in the Adventure Journal #2 Article "Rebel Privateers", where two of the forward turbolasers are replaced with an ion cannon and a tractor beam. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Have an other gms out there came up with a way to ease the playing field a bit in this regard? | It varies based on (1) allowing enough equipment and cash for the template function to function e.g. bounty hunter needs weapons and armor, freighter captain needs a ship, gambler needs a stake, rich noble needs some duds and cash to toss around and (2) template fluff.
It isn't supposed to be balanced. |

Yes there is a PDF document that some of the folks on this site created that includes all the templates. Unfortunately I don't have the link handy.
There are also many NPC collections listed in the Character section of the site. |

It's in Pirates and Privateers (page 125) and the Adventure Journal #2, (page 183). _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.
