Welcome. We've got plenty of gaming resources here for you, plus several people willing to discuss rules, and share (and sometimes very rarely bicker about) gaming philosophies.

Greetings, Rancor Pit forum-goers!

I just wanted to introduce myself and say that I am so excited that this place exists! I cut my gaming teeth on d6 Star Wars in the mid 90's and very reluctantly migrated to the train wreck of the early versions of d20 when the rest of my gaming group went that route in college (I have to admit I liked Saga for the most part, don't hate me).

My wife and I recently moved back to our home State, and in the process of unpacking I found myself flipping through my old d6 collection. After being away from this version for over a decade, it was like being reunited with an old friend. Sadly, present circumstances don't allow for any gaming. Instead, I'm at least getting my "fix" by becoming reacquainted with good old d6!

Anyway, thanks to the people that make this place possible, and see you all around the fora!

Welcome to the pit!

Don't sweat the saga enjoyment. Both Saga & D6 have their own upsides that they bring to the table. Saga enjoys a very structured approach with little room for interpretation, whereas D6 is a little more free-flowing, but the rules are fast and loose, which can lead to many disagreements about how the rules should be interpreted.

Most of my friends don't understand why I like D6 more. But, for me personally, I find that the D20 system can be clunky and unimaginative, or it hinders players for trying to come up with solutions outside the box.

But, I will admit that I do enjoy a lot of WOTC's fluff content, and I do find myself looking to their books sometimes for a little background info on planets, cities, or whatever.

Just remember: "There is no passion, there is serenity." You'll do fine here.

You STARTED that thread. Come, now... let's not re-open the whole "space noodle incident" in front of the guests. We'll just embarrass ourselves in front of the newbie. Smile

Hello to you all! Very Happy

I'm an old foagy gamer from Devon in the UK (Started role playing and wargaming in the late 70's). I recently dug out my old first edition Star Wars stuff after years of storage and decided to try and run a campaign at the local wargaming club starting early next year, suprisingly I have plenty of volunteers! Very Happy

Hope to be inspired by the stuff on here as well as throw out the odd call for help... Laughing

Welcome to the board, Mick A. We're more than happy to help with your adventure, or at least hear about it afterward. There's plenty going on here to stir the imagination to help you prepare.

I'm planning on starting the first adventure in a certain bar in Mos Eisley at the same point in time as an old man and young boy sort out passage off the planet, then see how things intertwine with the known series of events... Very Happy

I blame my campaign idea on the Tag and Bink comics (if you haven't read them I highly recommend you do...).

Hello everyone,

I was first exposed to role-playing through SW D6 close to 16 years past. Over that time I have experienced a number of games and game systems, including Star Wars through each of its incarnation over the years - though of late I seem to keep returning to my roots.

The last D6 game I ran was about a year and a half ago, a short five part custom story, a treat for my longest lasting gaming companion (he introduced me to rp and SWD6) and for some of my new ones, so they could share in the experience.

Before that, around three years ago, I ran "Starfell" (the first and only module I ever ran) for a similar group of friends for a new years party... though not planned, they managed to escape the exploding star destroyer right as midnight hit and the new year began... it was one of those perfect moments in gaming.

As you can see, my experiences with SWD6 have been sporadic and far apart (the gap before the Starfell game was even larger). I'm looking to begin a new, and hopefully longer lasting game starting this January and the Rancor Pit looks like a great place for help and inspiration.

Here is hoping to become a welcome new addition to the community and to future SWD6 experiences.

Welcome to the Pit, Crimson! It's a great place for us D6ers. 8)
