Right, and in the game DSP reflect this. I while good intentions are important, it is not the intention that does the damage, as even a good intention can be twisted and corrupted. While remaining at peace and calm is also important to a Jedi, being able to calmly take a life...any life...shows a certain detachment with living harmony, which is indicative of the dark side. The thing is, we are all splitting hares, and exploring moral gray areas that simply were not meant to be covered or dealt with by the orriginal trilogy or the SW WEG rules. In doing so, any million arguments could be raised to justify any million points. In the case of Jedi and the dark side, it should be simpler, the ends should never justify the means. If the Jedi believes he must use a dark side power, or a force power to kill, and their are no other alternatives, then so be it; let him do so, he should recieve the dark side points related to the action, then start down the long road to attonement. The attonement to remove the DSP can be a clear role playing reflection of his regret, guilt, and remorse at resorting to such acts, or even his awareness of tempting the dark side so closely, and trying to make things right. In the end, his motives, intentions, inner harmony, and the sense of justice really should not matter...for a Jedi there is only the force, the light side, or the dark side.
When you get into personal motivations, feelings, reasonings, then you open up a bag of worms where a clever, quick witted individual can justify any number of atrocities with ease. That, my friends, is the province of the dark side. _________________ "There's a set way to gain new Force Points and it represents a very nice system, where you're rewarded for heroism, not for being a poor conductor to electricity." ~Jachra |
