Nihl and Shadow Intro Thread

(ooc- thanks for the clarifications...I got a little confused there....)

Hearing shadow's stauts, Nihl decides he needs to finish this SBD off...

He takes a knee right at the right corner so that he is partially covered and fires two shots at the droid.

Nihl

Nihl, gritting his teeth and beginning to lose his patience, fires off two shots. He only needed one. The first one holed out between the eyes of the big droid, sending it crashing to the ground. It managed to get off one shot of it's own that hit the wall just inches away from Nihl's helmet.

Shadow

Shadow takes a knee and lets four shots loose down the hallway. One battle droid is hit and goes down, knocking another one over in the process. A few shots sail high and wide, but were more than enough to provide a distraction. "We're under attack," one droid yelled. The others slow down and begin to turn around.

As the super battle droid drops, Nihl jumps up and heads for the corridor ahead and to the right where he knows Shadow is from his status reports and the reverberating sound of blaster fire. As he begins to round the corner he glances down the blind corridor to the left to assess if there are more droids coming his way.

(ooc - not sure what the roll is? perception with penalty for running/taking a quick look? Assuming he doesn't see anything...)

"Coming your way.... watch the crossfire!" Nihl snaps. He guesses the droids will have turned to face their attacker and expects to come up behind them and take a shot at the back of the closet droid.

(occ- otherwise...)

Nihl's quick glance down the hall gives him the info he needs to adjust his plan. He does an about-face spin and comes to a rest on the northeast corner of the central intersection, aiming down the hall for whatever is waiting there...

Ignoring the second droid that falls with the damaged one. (OOC - assuming that I can see all the way down the hallway, passed the droids). "Once your hallway is clear, I have the six . . . correction five battle droids held down in the corridor east of you and the west of you is clear. Request an ion grenade to make quick work of them or this might take a while," Shadow passes to Nihl as he takes a single shot at the closest droids head hoping to down at least one more to even the odds, staying behind as much cover as possible and ducking back behind after his shot.

(OOC - from his kneeling position at the corner and in his hurry to get off a shot, Shadow does not get a good enough look down the hall and past the droids to know for sure what is beyond.)

Shadow
Shadow fires off a shot and hits the nearest battledroid in the chest, but it does not go down.  Shadow ducks back around the corner just before a hale of blaster bolts passes by and splatters off the East wall of the maze.

Nihl

Nihl sprints down the hallway and turns the corner to the right.  A quick, less than thorough glance to the left revealed no hidden enemies there.  Though with his momentum and desire to finish this drill quickly, Nihl maybe wouldn't have stopped anyway.  He turns the corner and snaps off a shot, decapitating the nearest droid, effectively taking him out of the fight. 

(OOC - 2 droids are destroyed.  1 is getting back to his feet and will turn toward Nihl.  The other three just fired on Shadow.  The two of you have initiative and the element of surprise.)

Smiling under his helmet with the realization that the droids are toast, Nihl takes advantage of the element of surprise by arming, sighting, and tossing an ion grenade into the midst of the droids as he backs around the corner and waits for the ion discharge.

He gives Shadow a warning through his grin: "Incoming."

Shadow sits calmly with his back against the wall waiting for the a lull in the fire. He swaps his current blaster pack out for a fresh one and ensures the blaster charges up. Kicking away the remains of one of the legs of the crab droid to ensure he has room to operate, he waits for the impact and discharge of the ion grenade to see if the fire ceases and then turn to take a another 2 shots making sure to fire at the droids further to his right side in case he misses so the crossfire is not a factor and the shots would hit the wall.

Nihl and Shadow

Just seconds after the two ARC Troopers duck back around their respective corners, the ion grenade detonates. Neither saw where it landed, but as they each turn the corner ready for action, they quickly saw the damage it did. All droids were on the ground, some still shaking from the ion energy yet running through their compartments. No shots are fired as the two clone troopers are the only two left standing.

Not wasting any time Shadow make a break for the pile of droids and as he approaches he starts putting blaster bolts into each on of the their craniums, putting them out of commission permanently so the team can move on unabated. As soon as he has confirmed all of them are destroyed he will run over to Nihl's position and take the opposite side of the intersection. "East section is clear, only north and west left."

Nihl and Shadow
The pair of troopers moves quickly, working together like a well-oiled machine and clearing the remaining sections of the maze. As they hustle down the westernmost corridor, the exit comes into view. The pair are 20 meters from the end of the drill and setting the bar impressively high for the rest of the troopers to follow.

As they jog to the exit, Nihl gives Shadow a nod: "Good work as always." And continues through a grin: "I hope we didn't scare the freshies too bad..."

(occ- i hope you didn't rush us through the end because you thought i was getting frustrated...I was enjoying it)

(OOC - Not at all! There is just a little story/detail I wanted to cover before the team arrives to pick you up. That was the tough part about starting everyone separately, I wasnt sure how much time each would take.)

Shadow follows Nihl to the exit checking behind them as they proceed, only letting his guard down once they have crossed the finish line and the timer has stopped. "2 minutes and 22 seconds, doesn't quite break our record. You must be getting slow in your old age, sir," Shadow says with a chuckle and big smile as he removed his helmet and powers down his blaster.

Before Nihl can reply, the pair are greeted by new and more inexperienced clones, all congratulating the vets on a fast time and on a clean run through the maze.

Before he can even take his helmet off, Nihl is approached by a younger deckhand, who is obviously nervous and impressed at the same time. "Excuse me sir...Ah, sorry sir. Good run, by the way. Umm, anyway, Captain, you and the Lieutenant are to report to Ready Room B as soon as possible, sir. There you will meet the other half of your squad prior to meeting in the briefing room at 1600. It seems like your down time is over, sir." The deckhand smiles nervously and begins to turn around.

Shadow
Shadow crosses the line to the left of Nihl, and smiles as many young troopers are there to greet them. "Good work, sir!" "Thanks for setting the bar high, sir." Shadow glances back to his left and sees the clock counting down for the next two Clones as they prepare to enter the maze.

Shadows smile slowly drops to a more serious face as he realizes that they are no doubt going back into ACTUAL combat again soon. "The war still isn't over it would seem," Shadow says with a little pessimism in his voice, still hoping to get out of this war alive. He rolls in behind Nihl as they begin walking to the ready room.
