Tilting the coltrol stick down, the slips the vehicle into a dive to pick up additional speed as he shoots down the straightaway. At the bottom of the dive, he throws the vehicle into a controlled slide (Repulsorlift Operation 6D) trying to time the maneuver so the vehicle will make the turn onto a smaller street without loosing as much speed. As he makes the turn, he glances out the mirror to see where the sky taxi is again. Trying to gague the distance to see how much time he has before the taxi will be reaching the corner. Leaning back in his seat, he swerves the vehicle towards the nearest building. Hugging the side of the building, he pulls back hard on the coltrol stick trying to climb as steeply as the vehicle is able. Climbing sharply, he keeps the throttle up as he tries to climb into the taxi's blind spot before it can round the corner. |

Bri'tan exhales, having successfully pulled off a manuever that would have impressed even the stunt-speeder drivers he used to watch as a kid.
After a moment, the Bith speeder pilot glances down and to the left and sees the sky-taxi. Apparently in a panic at losing his prey, the driver had it floored and goes flying by below, oblivious to the speeder's real position. Bri'tan relaxes, knowing (ok, hoping) he can breathe a little easier |

Easing back on the throttle, he merges with a higher skyway. Barely resisting the urge to speed, he maintains the speed limit as he continues on his way towards the Greased Nerf. Making a point of watching for anyone else following him, changing lanes from time to watch for followers.
With a little more time on his hands, he checks the car again, looking for a recharge port for his comlink so he can call a head to Kage on the Greased Nerf. |

Bri'tan finds a re-charge port for his comlink and plugs it in. Shortly he should have enough juice to try contacting Kage. 'What was that quirky little droid up to?' he wondered.
Bri'tan takes an indirect route back towards the Nerf and does not notice anyone following him. Breathing a sigh of relief, the Bith begins thinking about where to go from here. |

With no one following him anymore, Bri'tan starts taking stock of the situation. Resupply for the Greased Nerf should be arriving first thing in the morning. Kage should be done with most of the basic repairs by now, so we should be ready to leave as soon as we can refuel. We still need to secure a cargo though, . . . At this point, anything that will cover expenses will have to do, if it can pay for additional repairs, even better. Heck, maybe we will get lucky and we can afford an engine upgrade!
Hearing a soft "beep," he absently reaches down and picks up his recharged comlink. Seeing a small parking garage a few blocks from the Docking Bay currently holding the Greased Nerf, Bri'tan pulls the vehicle into the darkened interior and eases it into an empty space.
Flipping the comlink on, he begins the short walk back to his ship, "Kage! I'll be back in a few minutes. I ran into a little trouble on the way back. Check outside the ship for anyone or anything that shouldnt be there." Not bothering to wait for a reply, he thumbs the comlink back off.
Seeing the docking facility a head, he checks over his shoulder one last time before heading straight towards the building. Daydreaming about finding new ways to coax more speed out of the Greased Nerf, he enters the facility in high spirits. |

Bri'tan parks the speeder and leaves it behind quickly, realizing that it is only a matter of time until it is reported stolen, if it hadn't been already. A quick look around convinces Bri'tan that he is in fact alone and is no longer being followed. Bri-tan exits the garage and begins the two-block walk back to the Greased Nerf. |

Stepping into the docking bay, Bri'tan looks up at the Greased Nerf Smileing to himself, She might not be much, but she's mine, and for her size, she's FAST!
Without even bothering to check the area, he heads straight for the closed Entry Ramp. Slapping the release plate with the palm of his hand, he impatiently waits for the door to open so he can board. "Kage!" He hollers up the decending ramp, "Where are we on the repairs?" Only once the ramp is nearly down does he think to check his surroundings. |

Completley oblivious to his surroundings as he replays his speeder manuever over in his mind, Bri'tan walks into the docking bay area and takes a moment to bask in the presence of HIS ship. He looks up at the Greased Nerf and smiles to himself.
He proceeds toward the boarding ramp and impatiently waits for it to come down. Wasn't Kage waiting for him? Just as he is about to shout out to the little droid, Bri'tan receives a nervous call from Kage. The message was a little rushed and excited, and all Bri'tan could get out of it was that something was smoking nearby. |

Bri'tan
As Bri'tan tries to decipher the message from Kage the boarding ramp begins going down.
Kage
Hearing Bri'tan shout something from outside the ship, Kage opens the boarding ramp and speeds off to talk to his pilot. |

Something's smoking? He better not have burnt out the hyperdrive trying to fix it! Seeing Kage waiting for him, "What's got you so excited? Did you finish with the Hyperdrive yet?" Still oblivious to the danger behind him, he steps onto the entry ramp and slaps the preasure plate to close the door behind him. |

Kage tries to rework the ship's sensors, wondering why they aren't picking up the two individuals at the bay entrance, when suddenly he sees Bri'tan enter the hangar bay. The fool walked right past the two beings smoking at the entrance, and continued on toward the ship. So much for warning him. Kage unlocks the hatch release so that Bri'tan can lower the ramp, and begins hurrying through preflight.
Hearing Bri'tan shout something from outside the ship, Kage opens the boarding ramp and speeds off to talk to his pilot. Along the way, he retracts his video sensor.
Arriving at the top of the boarding ramp, Kage looks down at the Bith pilot.
"What's got you so excited? Did you finish with the Hyperdrive yet?" Bri'tan asks. Still oblivious to the danger behind him, he steps onto the entry ramp and slaps the pressure plate to close the door behind him.
Kage begins to berate his master with an uninterrupted chain of beeps and raspberries, telling him to hurry up and get his sizable posterior up the ramp so he can raise it. Again, he explains that there were two suspicious-looking beings hanging around the entrance. He goes on to remind Bri'tan that this is Coruscant, not some backwater world where you can blast off without contacting flight control. He'd already broken spaceport regulations by starting ion drive warmup without clearing it through starport control, but if someone had chased him all the way here, they were going to be in a real mess, since there was no way that the port authority was going to let them so much as engage the repulsorlifts without submitting a flight plan and settling their docking fee balance. Furthermore...
Rolling back and forth at the top of the ramp whilst blaring his dissatisfaction with Bri'tan, he stays within reach of the ramp controls so that he can begin raising it as soon as the Bith has both feet onto the bottom of the ramp. _________________ Arek | Kage |

As Kage finishes his panicked outburst and waits for his Master's reply, the boarding ramp comes to a close and the little droid loses all sight of teh entryway and any individuals who may be present there. |

With the entry ramp closed, Bri'tan can hear the ship's drives warming up. Looking down at the little droid and waving his hands in frusteration, "Slow down!" Waiting for the droid to end its rant, "First, I told you to check outside the ship, not power it up." Pointing his finger at the droid like he is scolding a child. "Now, what's this about a fire? And did you even scan the outside of the ship like I asked?" |

Kage makes a frustrated, grinding tone, then angles his squat torso so that his tiny video screen is presented to Bri'tan. Flashing the display on and off, Kage waits for his master to lean over and look at the small readout. Beeping his message more slowly, Kage explains,
Code: | Remove your finger from my immediate vicinity.
Alternative: Can remove finger for you.
Sensor scan conducted.
General interference from docking facility resulted in negative scan.
Visual scan conducted---
No fire; two beings at the docking bay entrance, smoking.
You ran past them, didn't notice. (Blind/malfunctioning olfactory sensors?)
If you do not want preflight initiated, avoid being chased and subsequently sending alarming transmissions.
Ship status: hyperdrive repaired temporarily; new-production, heavy-gauge superconducting wire required for permanent repairs.
Standard basic docking maintenance complete.
Ships consumables fully restocked and reprovisioned.
Reminder: consumable restocking fees on Coruscant are 100 credits per day of consumable restocked.
Reminder: docking fees on Coruscant are 150 credits per day (base rate).
Reminder: 20-jump overhaul due in 3 hyperspace jumps. Cost: 2,275 credits minimum (Imperial-class starport).
Reminder: balance must be paid in full to Coruscant Starport Services before departure.
Reminder: Current funds insufficient to cover current expenses. Gainful employment suggested.
Will power down engines and log explanation with starport control. Reason: sublight/repulsorlift diagnostics in progress.
Go find us some work. |
Kage begins to wheel off, but pauses and rolls back into his previous position.
Code: | And some heavy-gauge superconducting wire. |
The little astromech then heads off to the cockpit to power down the engines and log the break in procedure in the facility's docking log.
[OOC: Wisconsin Wookiee, I'm just going with the numbers from Galaxy Guide 6/Gamemaster Screen (I think the info may also be in Platt's Starport Guide and/or Platt's Smuggler's Guide), although the overhaul costs I ballparked; the text states that it generally costs about 1,000 credits, but can cost up to 5,000 if the ship sees really heavy use or has a ton of modifications. Feel free to change that to whatever you see fit, though. And I just stated the rate for everything, as I don't know how many days of consumables we needed restocked, nor how many days we have been on Coruscant. So you can basically put us in as much debt as you want...be gentle? ] _________________ Arek | Kage |

Absently shaking his head at the insufferable little droid, Bri'tan starts to run the numbers in his head: 78 days worth of provisions = 7,800 credits. Docking fees for 9 days, 1,350 credits. Upcoming Hyperdrive overhaul = 2,275 credits. Heavy Gague Superconducting Wire, . . . Bri'tan pulls his comlink, keying the code for a local starship supply retailer and waiting for a response, "What would it run for about 4 rolls of Heavy Gague Superconducting Wire, delivered." Waiting to hear the price, "Make that two rolls, and I want them here within the hour." Rattling off his current location, he thumbs off his comlink. 12,000 credits to cover everything, ouch!
Entering the bridge, he looks over the sensors, trying to spot the two smokers Kage had mentioned earlier. Maybe tomorrow we will find a cargo to haul.
(OOC: Epic post! By far the best laugh I've had in days!
I'm assuming we were running low on provisions across the board given the nature of how Bri'tan came to own the ship. The numbers reflect those assumptions. I'm also assuming that my current 400 credits will be enough to pay for the Superconducting wire? If not, I'll pay for whatever I can afford.) |
