|
Bri'tan quickly ducks into a side alley and leans agains the wall, gasping for air. He hadn't been running for all that long or for very far, but the Bith is out of shape and definitley feelling it. 'Perhaps Coruscant was not the best place to hide after all,' he thinks to himself.
It has been just two weeks since he walked away from (ok, flew away from with a stolen ship) his relationship with his former business partner, so Bri'tan knows he has been a little jumpy, but he is fairly certain he saw two of her goons on his tail a few blocks back. |

Taking a deep breath to steady himself, Bri'tan reaches into his jumpsuit and pulls his comlink. Looking at the red power indicator yet again, he grimaces and slips the comlink back in his pocket, yet again. She dosn't pay me, so I take what's rightfully mine. And NOW she cares what I do.
Fumbling in one of his pockets for a moment, he adjusts his multitool while he scanns the street before him. Got to find transportation, something fast, . . . Pushing off from the wall, he starts walking briskly down the street, keeping his eyes pealed for an unattended vehicle he can borrow. |

Bri'tan, breathing a little more under control, steps back into the flow of predestrians heading East. He is walking along a fairly busy thoroughfare, but seems to remember a public docking area a few blocks up ahead that was a litte off the main drag, where he should find no shortage of speeders to pick from. |

With a destination firmly in mind, he moves down the street, doing his best to dissapear into the masses. Nervously, he glances over his shoulder to see if he is still being followed. Got to get back to the Greased Nerf, then I'm out of here!
As he approaches the public docking area, he steps off the slideway and onto a less traveled skywalk. Looking over his shoulder again, he picks up his pace. |

Bri'tan tries blending into the mass of beings moving along the walk, throwing a quick glance over his shoulder. He doesn't see anyone, though he is having a hard time focusing. Bri'tan realizes this is not his element and is intent on reaching the safety of his ship.
As he nears the public docking area, he stops to take a quick look back before taking a right hand turn. What he sees stops him cold in his tracks for a moment. Bri'tan locks eyes with Deadeye, the old partner's chief encforcer. |

With his fight-or-flight instinct kicking into overdrive, he does the only thing he knows how to do, he bolts. Charging head long into the parking garage, he scans the nearby vehicles hoping to find an easy target. An idea crosses his mind and he looks towards the parking garage entrance, hoping to see a vehicle entering the garage. |

Bri'tan knows that flight was the only option and sprints toward the parking platform. On the way he thinks to himself: 'If she sent that crazy Rodian after me, she must really be pissed.' Bri'tan shudders as he recalls all of the stories he heard about what Deadeye was paid to do to her enemies. And that name. Deadeye could not have been more appropriate; not only because of the eye patch covering the spot where his left eye used to be, but also because it was rumored he could shoot the eye out of a mynock at 50 meters with that pistol of his.
Bri'tan snaps back to reality and clibs the six steps up to the platform, immediately spying speeders of all ages, shapes and sizes. None are entering at the moment, but he notices a couple getting into a speeder about three rows in. |

Running up to the couple getting into vehicle, "Hello!" He blurts, "I'm with CPD, the security cameras in this parking garage showed someone tampering with your vehicle," He vaguely gestures towards a dark corner of the parking garage that may or may not actually have a security camera before reaching out and taking the keys from the man's hand, "If you can stay here for a couple of minutes, I'd like to drive your vehicle through a security scan to ensure your safety." Still breathing heavily, he steps towards the vehicle.
Looking back towards where he expects to see Deadeye, he points and screams, "He's got a gun! Get to the lifttubes where you'll be safe!" Just to emphasize his point, he gives the man a nudge in the right direction. |

The upper-class, well-to-do couple looks aghast at the Bith and don't quite know what to make of him. "You most certainly cannot have my vehicle, says the man," reaching for his keys. "We're late for dinner."
Bri-tan keeps a tight grip on the keys even thought it doesn't seem like they are buying it. Taking one last chance, he yells between gasps for air: "He's got a gun! Get to the lifttubes where you'll be safe!"
Bri-tan turns to look and his eyes go wide as Deadeye has closed the gap considerably. An incoming blaster bolt smacks the side door of the couple's speeder, giving them all the motivation they needed to get the heck out of there. Bri'tan needs a moment to recover from the surprise, and fumbles with the keys, trying to get out of there himself. |

The sight of the blaster bolt leaves Bri'tan clumsily diving for the drivers seat.
Settling his bulk behind the wheel, he finds himself back in his element. Without thought, he slams the keys home in the ignition.
Almost as a single action, he turns the ignition, throws the vehicle in reverse, and guns the engine. Swinging the vehicle into a wide arc, he scans the area for exits. seeing the up ramp, he shifts the vehicle into drive and plants his foot on the floor. He feels what can only be described as joy as the vehicle begins to surge forward. |

Bri'tan fires the ignition and sees Deadeye the Rodian come charging up the steps onto the parking platform. Using the rear-view mirror to guide him, Bri'tan jolts back out of his stall and cranks the wheel hard, turning the speeder. He ducks down as blaster bolts pepper first the front, then the side of the craft. Slamming the throttle forward, the speeder roars ahead and up the exit ramp, leaving Deadeye behind. But where was the other guy? Bri'tan remembers a second individual following him, but sees no sign of him as he launches up the ramp. |

With his foot on the floor, the vehicle bursts out of the parking garage. Moving quickly, he merges the vehicle with trafic and starts assessing his situation. He lets his eyes scan the surrounding trafic in the hopes of spotting anyone following him before his eyes move downward to check the dash for a comlink recharge station.
Looking for a skyway leading in the direction of the Greased Nerf, he begins to enjoy the feel of the vehicle beneath him, taking note of the engine's rythum and the sensitivity of the vehicle's controls.
(OOC - Bri'tan would be trying to check for any potential problems with the vehicle. He has 6D in Hover Vehicle & Repulsorlift Operation to "Feel" whether the vehicle seems to be operating properly. Then he has Technical 5D to diagnose what any problems might be.) |

Bri'tan floors it and then makes a hard right. One speeder slams on the breaks and veers left, narrowly missing a collision with the Bith's newfound transportation.
Bri'tan scans the speeders behind him and does see a taxi coming up fast, but as of yet is unsure of whether it is following him or not.
Bri'tan pushes the seat back a few notches and gets comfortable. He notices no problems with the speeder silently thanks the owner for keeping his ride in such good condition. |

Making note of the sky taxi, Bri'tan checks the fuel meter, then changes lanes. Smiling to himself, he gives the vehicle a little more power and turns onto a considerably less traveled skyway. Throttling the vehicle up to its top speed, he feels adrenaline flood his system as he feels the g-force of rapid acceleration. Checking his mirrors, he looks for the sky taxi again. |

Bri'tan glances down to the instrument panel in front of him and finds that the fuel gage is a little bit shy of half full.
Putting the hammer down, Bri'tan takes the speeder into a quick left hand turn, and checks his mirrors. He notices the taxi suddenly jump out of line and attempt to keep up with him.
Up ahead, Bri'tan sees a long straight-away, fairly devoid of any traffic. |
