He did add the "Noooooooooooooooooooooo" to Return of the Jedi when vader throws the emperor.
A reason why I am very happy I have original copies of Return of the Jedi. |

Alderaan shots first? I knew it!
I've just watched "Phantom Edit". The fan-editor threw out 40 min of needless scenes and Jar-Jar, in effect we have much much better movie. There are also "edited" version of two next episodes which have good reviews. _________________ Nico,

Nice Whill. 8) Yes, George's re-editing skills are now in demand.
Edit to fix the link. Thanks Whill!

Yeah, I'm very glad that I have two sealed VHS sets in addition to my DVD set and video files on my PC...long live the purist underground! _________________ Arek | Kage |

I've heard of the phantom "edit", but I've never seen any of these and I'm interested in watching them someday. Please do provide some linkage!

I have the DVD set with the 2004 DVD versions plus the original theatrical versions of the films. I have the "special edition" VHS set. I think all versions of all the films are awesome. _________________ *

...Alderaan shot first, lol!
...Might need the smuggler's network of Talon Karrde to provide bootleg copies of the original VHS films recorded to DVD. _________________ The man who thinks he knows everything is most annoying for those of us that do. |

Nice Whill
I have two copies of the original format VHS, unfortunately, both are kinda wonky and staticy due to over use
I do have the movies on DVD, and recently picked up the 2004 release with the original laserdisc copy versions included for about $5 each at Walmart... I hadn't planned to buy them, being annoyed with Lucas over continued edits, refusal to properly address re-release of the original films, etc, but at that price, I couldn't help it
I had preordered the Blu-ray in January, or whenever it was that it was available for pre-order... then they go and announce more f*** around with the narrative/effects. When will it stop?? I've considered canceling my order, but haven't done so.
I REALLY wish they would just clean up the original films and release them... all this editing BS is a piss off. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

There are a lot of AWESOME fanedits out there. The Phantom Edit is probably the most well-known. Something you guys absolutely must check out is A New Hope Revisited. The guy (Adywan) went through and fixed errors and recolored everything, basically just cleaned it up like Lucasfilm should have done. Check it out; it's the only version of ANH that I watch now.

My hardcopies are the pan-and-scan (full-screen) 1995 VHS remastered releases (x2) and the 2008 widescreen DVD boxset that included the theatrical versions. If they had sold a boxset without the special editions, I would have bought that. I'm aching to have Star Wars on Bluray, but I'm going to hold out a year or two; I have a feeling they will "change their minds" and release the original versions on Bluray as well. They've said they wouldn't release the originals before, and then they did. I trust in Lucasfilm (to milk their franchise for everything it's worth). _________________ Arek | Kage |

No problem! I'm sure you noticed that you can't download anything directly from that site; you'll have to torrent it or maybe find it on Usenet. Shouldn't be too hard to find, though. He's been working on Empire ever since releasing ANH Revisited, and it's supposed to be released next year (it was supposed to be December '11, but the guy's mom died and his dad got diagnosed with cancer, so things got pushed back).
Talking about this stuff reminded me that I also have the 2004 widescreen DVD boxset (it was a gift), and I have the 1995 widescreen VHS editions as well. I guess to be a true purist/fan though, I gotta bite the laserdisc bullet, though...long live the ORIGINAL original trilogy. _________________ Arek | Kage |
